    (I know, I’m a little slow on this one…)

Is it Friday today?  We’re headed down to my nephew’s little league championship and all star game tonight.

      It’s Friday on a Thursday!

I think I like this kind of four day week better than the ones where I have Monday off.

      • CabinGirl
CabinGirl on July 2, 2009 at 8:24 am

I think so too.  I’m not sure why, since it’s a 3-day weekend either way.  Maybe because Friday has a much better reputation than Mondays?  ðŸ™‚

BTW, I can’t believe BooMan thinks a woman should be limited to dating one guy at a time.  How victorian…

          maryb2004 on July 2, 2009 at 8:28 am

Because you can imagine yourself going out on a Thursday night and enjoying yourself more than a Sunday night?

Or because Friday night becomes more like a Saturday night?   More time for BOTH guys. 🙂

CabinGirl on July 2, 2009 at 9:04 am

There are definitely more options for Thursday night fun than on a Sunday, don’t you think?

BOTH? I was thinking there would be a night for all three…Thursday, Friday, Saturday.

It depends on what your definition of “dating” is.

CabinGirl on July 2, 2009 at 9:02 am

Um, I may have been using that euphemistically…you know, sort of like the Sanford definition of soulmate.  ðŸ™‚

“Hiking the Appalachian Trail” will never again mean the same thing.  I’m surprised my husband didn’t use that one.

CabinGirl on July 2, 2009 at 9:44 am

Now I’m going to have use that one:  “Hey baby, want to hike the Appalachian Trail with me?”

          • maryb2004
            maryb2004 on July 2, 2009 at 10:11 am

Hey … wasn’t Andi hiking … does the Appalachian Trail go through the smokies?   gasp.

Second Nature on July 2, 2009 at 10:20 am

Yes, you’re right.  But I think you only “hike the appalachian trail” with someone who isn’t your spouse.

            maryb2004 on July 2, 2009 at 10:21 am

Yeah and after the bum got blisters, I definitely needed a different sole mate (and this time I’m going for one with “dainty” feet).

Funny moment — one of the news stories used an AT trail sign that we had hiked past on the first hike we did.

Yeah, and then you get in an accident and crap yourself anyway.  They never mention that.

  5. AndiF
AndiF on July 4, 2009 at 6:54 am

I have to admit I’d like the holiday a lot better if they’d just forget all about the Declaration of Independence so I could forgot about the amazing hypocrisy at the core of what we’re supposed to celebrate. (Why yes, I am a curmudgeonly old fart.)

    • Indianadem
Indianadem on July 4, 2009 at 9:28 am

Why yes, I’d rather continue with the painting & flooring of Mrs. ID’s office & our kitchen, which has become a seemingly endless endeavor. Too much the perfectionist am I in these matters.

On the other hand, there will be free food at the fire dept. later today and that’s a definite lure. Maybe we could build a holiday around cheesecake!

As for the Declaration, why that’s just a gd piece of paper… or was that the Constitution? No matter, they’ve both been trashed beyond imagination.

Have a peaceful day whatever you do;-)

          Heh.  I don’t know about that…

I’m just excited to have a barbecue with the kids, try out some new recipes, and go see fireworks tonight.

Anybody else watching the Williams sisters this morning?  I hate it when they play each other-I want them both to win.  How can their mother stand it?

AndiF on July 5, 2009 at 7:00 am

It rained here through the day and night so it sure wasn’t about fireworks and firecrackers. I guess I feel a little bad for the kids.

I like to think that my French ancestors living west of the then international border (the Mississippi) were looking at each other and saying “Mon Dieu!  An English civil war! Maybe FRANCE will return and things will go back to normal!”

It was wet yesterday but the rain stopped so that all the fireworks could happen.  It got very humid thought.  Ugh.

Today I have to spend my day at a wedding shower.  Fortunately a co-ed wedding shower.  But still … a wedding shower.

Imogen and I spent the weekend on the northwest coast of our little island.

While walking along this beach we were shocked, shocked I tell you, to find another couple trailing behind us at some distance.

    WARNING very large image.

On the inland track we saw about thirty wombats and promptly named Narawntapu “Wombat Capital of the World”.

Interestingly, most of them were a lovely (often chocolaty) brown color, whereas our local ones are tan to gray in color.
