   l’m of the firm belief that l’ll probably be eligible for medicare before we see meaningful health reform in this country…as in a single payer system.

   assuming, of course, that l last that long, and medicare isn’t eviscerated as part of whatever bill they do pass.

     I think they’ll pass health care with a public option.  But they might have to do it in reconciliation in October, and that will cause a bunch of its own problems.

       Reid: No Health Care Vote in Senate Until Fall

       Senate Democratic leaders on Thursday abandoned plans for a vote on health care before Congress’ August recess, dealing a blow to President Barack Obama’s ambitious timetable to revamp the nation’s $2.4 trillion system of medical care.

       Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, D-Nev., delivered the official word on what had been expected for weeks, saying, “It’s better to have a product based on quality and thoughtfulness rather than try to jam something through.”

       His words were a near-echo of Republicans who have criticized the rush to act on complex legislation that affects every American.

       Reid said he had listened to the requests from senior Republicans working with Baucus to allow more time for a compromise to emerge.

       “The decision was made to give them more time and I don’t think it’s unreasonable,” he said….

       so much for the rumour that reid had told baucus to back off the bipartisianship shit, eh.

           Compromise is a Republican code word for weakness. Why do Dems. always have one SOB Senator who has to wipe-the-arse of his Republican counterpart. I say pass healthcare reform, now, delay is the Republicans game-plan.

           anyone who can vote the Patriot Act without reading its contents, should have not qualms about voting for healthcare reform..

           then they try to hide behind the RATpublican’s skirts. l don’t think it’s gonna work this time. we’re probably going to get a watered down pos  bill, but they’ll pass something, piss on your head, and tell you it’s manna from heaven.

   The Health INDUSTRY. Well, a comprehensive bill aimed at patient health #1 instead of an industry that has never had to work off of a competitive structure and indeed so completely has lost sight of preventative medicine that it jumps right over that concept into manufacturing a strung out liability CYA methodology.

   I’m not so sure that Congress couldn’t come up with the best Health Insurance bill ever devised and simply put, the Insurance Companies simply wouldn’t show up.

   Harry Reid just capitulated to Baucus-Grassley; they’re going to recess in August.

   It’s over.  Here comes a month of Harry and Louise on steroids rolling over a lot of folks who have spent the last month organizing and calling Congressmen and Senators.

   $3.4 million means more to Max Baucus than the half a million people of Montana.

   His pharmacy company means more to Mike Ross than the 600,000 people around Hope and Hot Springs, Arkansas.

   Scratch on of the opposition and they bleed healthcare money.

   Harry Reid decided today that real healthcare reform is absolutely not going to happen.

   Now, go out and find some more progressives; apparently there are not yet enough of us to count, even when 72% of the American people agree with us.
