I’m headed to the Outer Banks of North Carolina to a place where cell phone coverage is almost non-existent and internet access is limited to a coffee house and the library. It’s not quite completely off the grid, but it’s about as close as you can get on the East Coast. Unfortunately, there is going to be plenty of news in my near-absence. Sonia Sotomayor will be confirmed to the Supreme Court and Congress will do whatever it is that they can do on health-care reform. I’m hoping Man Eegee will be around to do a little posting and keep things lively. I’ll probably be around for at least one or two posts a day.
In any case, don’t let the Blue Dogs keep you down.

I haven’t been to the Outer Banks since cell phones broke out, but I am surprised they don’t have cell coverage or internet access. Weird. Especially since it is densely populated for the summer season.
we’ve got no signal at all on AT&T. Sprint will allow texting.
Ok, so some helpful folks handed me a link to “what is single payer?” .. as well as less clear (to me) information on “what is public option?“
What’s the difference? Can public option somehow support single payer, at least partially? Or is the push now just whether there’s a public option at all, and to hell with single payer? It seems like single payer has just fallen off the discussion table entirely.
Are the laws being pushed right now to get public option being written such that it would be harder, later, to sort out single payer?
Somehow, public option is registering in my spider sense as another “pay the banks that failed” type trap. :-/
