Happy Sukkot to all who celebrate it. I guess I could go hang fruit from the rafters of our old barn, which would certainly make a lot of the critters around here think about converting. 😉
I’m up early this morning to go hit a big kid stuff yard sale at the local church on my way to yoga class. Then back home for house work-y stuff, and hopefully we’re all (CBs included) going to go see Capitalism this weekend too.
You don’t need to convert; you just need to hang out at a temple — they can’t bear to let anyone leave unfed. 😉
We’re going back to Cincy on Sunday to sort of reverse the last trip. My m-i-l won’t be able to ever go back to her apartment but she is going to get to move to assisted living. Nothing like a stay in nursing care to improve one’s attitude about assisted living.
My mom really seemed to like the care center here after she moved there. She would say repeatedly, “I don’t have to cook!”
The big Methodist yard sale is on down the street. They have food and general yard sale stuff out on all four corners of the village green. Its a good place to pick up used books.
My new PC arrived yesterday, so my weekend will be spent transferring software and files.
I’d say have fun with the new PC but I always find setting up a new machine to be a royal pain. Maybe you can find something at the yard sale as a reward.
I set up the file transfer last night around midnight, thinking it would be done this morning, however, it hung on a .pst file because this operator stupidly left the email client running as well. So… I’m about 50% complete at this point. Got about 70G data to move – all those nifty photos, ya know.
I use the free version of Avast on one laptop (the one that doesn’t belong to me) and it seems to work fine. It’s certainly not a resource hog. For my own computer I use Eset’s Nod32 which I’ve been using for several years and am very happy with it. Not free, though.
I don’t mind a reasonable fee, but the time I spend configuring and updating always seems like an awful lot, especially on a multiple workstation network.
One of my relatives was in an assisted living place for several months, and it really wasn’t bad. A shuttle to take you places, activities, etc. It would seem like a resort after a nursing care stay.
I did pretty well with my yard-saling today (clothes, playpen, crib)…and we went through another stack of stuff already in the house and purged the useless crap. I found all my photos from over the years, and put them in boxes, although I really want to do something with them so they’re easier to flip through.
And my yoga class was fun. Who would have thought I could still stand on my head this morning and actually enjoy it? 🙂
I keep promising myself I’m going to organize all of the old photos that are in a giant Tupperware storage container…but I never do. And I haven’t quite figured out this whole digital photo storage thing. They tend to just sit in my picasa folder and I never back them up or anything. I’ve got the part where you TAKE the picture, but not what to do with them. This will need to be worked on!
How I wish digital cameras were around when I was having babies, instead of taking pics and leaving the film in the camera for months until I had the money to develop them. 🙂
I have them put neatly into boxes now, but I (a) need more boxes. and (b) think I’m going to put them in albums loosely grouped according to timespan, rather than focusing on each CB. I was surprised at how many good pictures I have and I want to do something with some of them where I can enjoy them more often.
I’m not sure what I’m going to do to work through the digital ones…maybe have books printed from them? I know I can lay out books and text in iPhoto, and i keep meaning to do that with our pictures from Italy and Switzerland last year.
I was surprised I could stand on my head with my weight all in the front now (but I’ve been doing yoga for 9 years now, so I should be able to)…there’s a 73-year-old woman in my class (she was my summer camp Counselor from when I was 10, btw) who can do it too. I just want to be like her when I grow up. 🙂
Its one of the best! My brother used to volunteer for the festival and ferried bands down to Bloomington from the Indy airport. He really enjoyed the chance to meet and chat with fellow musicians from all over the world.
Hey – you have to wonder about those BlogAds. Anyone else taking out a Visa Black Card? It’s not for everyone[TM]. Only $495 per annum. Made of carbon. Do you think they’ve got the right demographic here?
Hope you have a wonderful day! And cake. 🙂
(Reposted from old cafe because b2 is so good I needed to say it twice)
Happy birthday, b2!
How did we get to October already?
Happy Birthday boran2! Take the day off (with pay).
Best offer I’ve had today!
Thanks to all!
I’ll have to check the graphic later on when it’s not blocked!
Happy Birthday, boran2!
May a little warm October sunshine grace your day today. Please!
🙂
This week’s theme is Purple
Click here to show off how royal your pictures are. Or try out the royal we while judging the majesty of the pictures posted. 😉
Oh good, more color for the color blind. ;-)I
Oh-oh. I guess that means you couldn’t see how colorful your birthday cake was. 🙁
Good morning AndiF and boran2! I’ve decided to take today off in honor of your birthdays.
Well you’ve certainly picked a gorgeous day for it. I’ve just been on a lovely 2 hour walk and it was really hard to come back in.
Happy Sukkot to all who celebrate it. I guess I could go hang fruit from the rafters of our old barn, which would certainly make a lot of the critters around here think about converting. 😉
Mmm, food. Can I convert? 🙂

What are you up to this weekend?

I’m trying Avast Anti Virus on the new PC. If it works out, good bye Norton, time waster par excellence!

I can’t believe you can stand on your head.
“I can’t believe you can stand on your head.”
Well, I’d do it, but I’m afraid it would enlarge the bald spot.

This band will wake you up!
They played last weekend at the Lotus World Music Festival in Bloomington.
Perfect for a Sunday morning! That festival must have been fun.
Its one of the best! My brother used to volunteer for the festival and ferried bands down to Bloomington from the Indy airport. He really enjoyed the chance to meet and chat with fellow musicians from all over the world.
Off to Cincy.
Hope everybody has a fine day.
Have a good trip – its certainly a lovely day for it!

I’ll take two! 😉
I think it’s safe to say we won’t be getting any of those cards here. 😉
