Welcome to Friday Foto Flogging, a place to share your photos and photography news. We were inspired by the folks at European Tribune who post a regular Friday Photoblog series to try the same on this side of the virtual Atlantic. We also thought foto folks would enjoy seeing some other websites so each week we’ll introduce a different photo website.
This Week’s Theme: Purple
Website of the Week: National Geographic Photo Archive. Be jealous. Be very, very jealous.

Next Week’s Theme: Differences. Between photos, within photos. Differences of any kind, including content, equipment, setting, or even your mood.
Info on Posting Photos
When you post your photos, please keep the width at 500 or less for the sake of our Bootribers who are on dial-up. If you want to post clickable thumbnails but aren’t sure how, check out this diary:
Clickable Thumbnails. If you haven’t yet joined a photo-hosting site, here are some to consider: Photobucket, Flickr, ImageShack, and Picasa.

Purple Rain?:
Moon in Purple and Indigo:
Lovely, ask. I love getting to see the varied shots of that top view.
Well, it’s my favorite spot and the conditions vary all day and all year. Sometimes, I get lucky.
Wow – those clouds are amazing.
It was amazing being there, seeing them get closer and finally being engulfed in that strange light.
The top one is from 2005, the bottom one from 2007.
Well, thanks for sharing your beautiful spot with us!

The first thing that entered my head:
“Say, can I have some of your purple berries?”

Nice flowers above but I really like the leaf art, especially the range of purple shades.
Oooh … like jewels. Love it.

[ps: excuse the multiple posts. l’m DUI [dial up impaired] at the moment.]
I’ll have to remember that acronym for the next rainstorm.
Also, nifty color transition.
I love the colour combination. Pretty.
Fortunately, I lots and lots of photos to look through.
Australian Painted lady, on one of our bushes.

Purple-crowned lorikeet

Crinkle-leaved fire bush

The aptly named Purple fringe lily

Waxlip orchid

(Crap, forgot to remove the size bar – oh well.)
Someone’s going to find their towel a little different in the morning then when they hung it out the night before.
Keres,
Very beautiful shots & the last one is terrific.
Yes, some lovely and unusual (to this midwestern guy) shots!
It may have been hard but the payoff was beautiful.
The orchid is my favorite.
My Nikon is in the shop. 🙁 We already have six different orchid species out, with at least two more just starting to bloom – eeek! My little Cannon Powershot is doing it’s best to fill in, but I feel naked without my D70.
Today is overcast, but at least it’s not raining.
You have my sympathy. When I had to send my camera in for repair in August, it was gone for two weeks and I was bereft.
Those are gorgeous keres.
Blue delphinium as of 08/29/09
Greetings Pond Dwellers!
Well, almost purple.
At nearly 6′ the main stem
had over 60 blossoms.
I’m so glad you to see you here.
And with quite the splashy companion too.
Thanks for the welcome AndiF.
I’m celebrating, as I recently got off of dialup, so whooopppeee!
31.2K just wasn’t cutting it…
Congrats on entering the world of year-round broadband!
Pretty!
And that’s huge news re: the connection. Congrats!
Hi NDD! Thanks for the champion delphinium pic and congrats on the hi-speed connection!
Your welcome, Indianadem! It’ll certainly be much easier participating here at the pond now.
welcome back nd…good to see ya….now that you’re up to speed.
Purple haze

Dark fall iris

Lavender snow

The bottom is especially nice — it really sets a mood (and it makes me feel really cold).
I’m with Andi – Brrrrrrrr!
All too soon for us western hemisphere people:(
Love the purple haze photo … 🙂
The bar where my oldest works. They have a nice regular crowd of mostly 20 – 30 somethings.
Looks like it has a nice atmosphere!
Love the shrooms Andi and the clematis, olivia!
Thanks. They are really nifty mushrooms and this is the first year I’ve seen anything like them.
Maybe it was the monsoon-like weather that coaxed them out. I haven’t seen the cumulative rainfall for the summer, but it did seem awfully wet much of the time.
The mushrooms and fungus this summer were amazing — variety, size, and quantity were all beyond anything we can remember.
Some purple for your pleasure.
The dino is great! Quite fierce looking even without the skin.
Seconding IndianaDem … I love the dino!
I’m w/ ID and Andi – love the gold undertones on the dino!
Thanks for the comments, everybody loves that dino.
