Who knows? Maybe I wrote about it at the time and have just forgotten. But I don’t remember Colin Powell’s remarks about the terrorism-industrial complex either. Seems like they should have received more play.

No, because he was wrong on most accounts in same interview and doesn’t take responsibility for his role in going into Iraq. If he would have added religious, as in a religious-terrorism-industrial complex he would have hit the nail on the head. He didn’t get it right with My-Lai during the Vietnam war, he himself represents what is wrong with the United States. Our hope is with Obama, not with Colin Powell the weasel.

"But I will not let myself be reduced to silence."
Hope is the appropriate word. I see no evidence Obama is any less of a warmonger than Powell.
In fact, Powell is reported to have cautioned Obama about expanding the Af-Pak war. Advice Obama clearly has no intention of heeding. This appears to be the about the most dovish advice Obama seriously entertained (and if some foreign reports are correct Obama has already decided and this “considering all sides” is simply a cover story).
So if Powell is a weasel but he is the most dovish to advise Obama then . . .
And on Mid East peace . . . hope springs eternal I guess. Wonder if the Palestinians are still filled with hope in Obama? Pakistanis? Obama just signed a aid package to ensure American armaments rain down not only on the Palestinians but on Pakistanis as well.
But I guess they have his pretty speeches to lift their spirits as the bombs fall on them.
