I’m ready for the Series to begin. I don’t think it is going to be as high-scoring as people think. If the Phillies are going to win, they’re going to have to beat C.C. Sabathia at least once. Tonight’s their first chance. Most of these games should be decided in the sixth-to-eighth innings. In at least five of the seven games, the Yankees will be throwing a left-hander. We’ll see how the Phils’ big left-handed hitters deal with that.

I’m sorry, I freaking hate the yankees and am so sick of seeing them buy their way into the post season year after year. How challenging is it to have an unlimited payroll? And A-Rod and Derek Jeter?…..Ick. Seriously, I just want to smack them.
Looks like Cliff Lee might go all 9. That would be nice to see the Yankees and Sabathia lose the opener 2-0!

But this game looks to be almost in the bag for the Phillies.
I disagree. Money helps, but it can’t buy a victory. It hasn’t in the last how many years now? It’s been a long time since the Yankees won the World Series, despite having the richest payroll in baseball.
Phils sweep. Yanks pitching just isn’t there. Neither is their manager.

Phil Hughes has sucked in the post-season, but the ump just wouldn’t sell him a strike.
The Phillies could probably score an infinite number of runs by simply not swinging. The ump will not call a strike.
Cliff Lee looks like he’s pitching against the Cubs he’s so relaxed. Damn, I wish the Twins would have had a pitcher like him in their rotation this year!
Ah but remember, we offended our last great pitcher we drove him right off the team.
Our general manager and coaching staff (yes coaching) need to be replaced.
That was my frustration in the Phillies-Dodgers series. The plate expanded and shrunk when the Phillies and Dodgers were up, respectively. Hated that.
My biggest complaint about baseball umpiring is that MLB lets umps get away with basically making up their own strike zone, and consistently calling pitches that are clearly off the plate as strikes. How about following the rule book? Just sayin’…
When you pitch a game where absolutely everything is working like Lee did last night, you’re just not going to lose very often. Sabathia actually pitched a really good game, too. These things are best of 7 for a reason, though…
