Finn and I got up early this morning and headed out to the office for visit. What fun! The last of the January babies (there were 3 at the office) made her appearance early this morning, so that was fun news too. He was a good little visitor, barely making a peep while we were there. 🙂
I think I’m going to work part-time from home next month to earn a little extra cash before going back in March. I’ve already been doing a little bit here and there anyway, so I may as well get paid for it.
What’s everyone been up to today? How’d the dentist visit go, b2?
The ritual de-ticking of a Blue-tongue skink. They get horrible tick infestations, mostly in their ears and armpit – so, when we find a Blue-tongue we catch it and de-tick it. They’re not that hard to catch since they’re not really afraid of us.
Imogen does most of the “surgeries”. I’m more the nurse that gets to hand her things. We treat the raw spots with tea tree oil, which is a Australian native plant.
Other than glaring at us the whole time, the skinks don’t seem to mind the procedure too much. Since they are territorial (the males are anyway), we always put them back where we found them, which in this case was under the fuchsia in the front yard.
I’m just glad that they don’t try and eviscerate us with their hind legs, or get lice all over our hands and arms, like injured wallabies do.
I’m especially so very, very glad that lice are species specific.
Imogen picked up a juvenile Butcherbird with a broken wing on her way home a few days ago. I took it to the vet the following morning. It managed to bite us both, and boy do they have strong and sharp beaks.
That is so cool. I’m going to have to tell KamaKid. I wasn’t sure if you actually saw skinks in your neighborhood, but since you do, Kamakid is really concerned about creating the perfect life and food for hers. Can you give us any tips? We have a very large habitat, a heat lamp, a UV light, and a space to hide, etc. He seems to love Kiwi and greens (Collard, Kale, and Mustard) and earthworms. Any insights into the skink’s natural life would be much appreciated.
I have a mental picture of Andi hanging from one arm by a second floor window sill, camera in the other hand trying for just the right shot on that one;-)
We’ve done shadows. Rhythm is an interesting idea — I like that it’s vague but I wonder if people would find it confusing. If we do walls and fences, Wildnerness Wench will have a field day. 🙂
It’s olivia’s turn next so I’ll pass these on to her.
Looks like I missed everyone again. I was all proud of myself for being awake when the CBs went off for school, but I fell back to sleep before I could get the laptop out.
Today’s outing: Off to Gram’s to have lunch with an aunt and uncle who are dying to see the boy. I feel like such a social butterfly. 🙂
Cranky baby. I think he was gassy, but that’s the most I’ve ever heard him yell. He fell asleep, but he looks like he’ll wake up again at any moment. Poor guy.
I have new pictures to upload, so I hope he stays asleep for a few.
Ahhhhhhhhh – Friday, and payday, the best of both worlds! Our office, that was horribly in arrears when we moved in three years ago, became caught up at the close of business today! Our evil overlords that dwell in the dank catacombs beneath the statehouse are pleased mightily.
Thanks! At least now all the entities, town, townships, school can budget without quite so many wild guesses as to when funds will arrive. Too bad little guv Mitch gained control of the school general funds, courtesy of tax protesters.
Update on me. LOL My ankle is getting much better but my lower back has been bad for awhile. I am going to the doctor about that and a problem with my knee on Monday. I finally got a response to my appeal for SSDI and will be getting my first check next month!!!!
Sorry I have been absent so much. I guess nest month I will have to live blog the curling again. LOL
ROTFLMAO!!!! I still remember some of my comments from the last time. It has to be the most boring sport on the face of the earth. It makes golf(not Tiger) lo0okm exciting. LOL
In the high 60s all week, now they are predicting 7-10″ of snow tonight followed by freezing rain tomorrow. Good god, we’ll be immobilized for weeks down here.
I am so glad I am not there. LOL I will call my Mom and see how she likes it. She loves snow but hates sleet. She has stocked her kitchen but is fearful the electricity will go out at her apartment complex.
Sounds like you guys have a great weekend ahead of you. 🙂
It’s just bitterly cold here. BooMan is out picking up the CB from his friends house; I had to bribe him to do it with posting something on the front page in his absence. Any suggestions?
The old place needed cleaning up…

Sounds like Finn had a good outing — so how many times did he get to here what a beautiful baby he is?
More than anyone could count. He went out to drinking liberally with us tonight too…and was quite the little socializer. 🙂

Poor thing. Nice of you do that.
Imogen does most of the “surgeries”. I’m more the nurse that gets to hand her things. We treat the raw spots with tea tree oil, which is a Australian native plant.

I’m glad it isn’t too traumatic — and that the journey wasn’t very brief.
I’m just glad that they don’t try and eviscerate us with their hind legs, or get lice all over our hands and arms, like injured wallabies do.

Good that the skinks can give something so awfully wonderful to be glad about. 🙂
Wow, that beak looks pretty strong; I’ll bet that really hurt.
It’s the eviscerating spike at the tip that really gets you.
They are wonderful singers.

Tres cool.
Bedtime for these bonzos. Have a good Wednesday, y’all.
I love that wall — it’s just a playhouse of shapes and shades.
I like that one too! How in the world did you manage to keep the snow fresh and unmarred for that shot with twelve little paws dashing about?
By carefully angling the shot so none of the trampled areas in front of the benches or in back the wall was in the picture.
A challenge, I’m sure. 🙂
I have a mental picture of Andi hanging from one arm by a second floor window sill, camera in the other hand trying for just the right shot on that one;-)
Yeah, the state of snow being unfooted is one of the most ephemeral.
Well done! Do I smell a FFF topic? 😉
Okay but what’s the theme? Walls? Snow shapes? Humps?
Rhythm, shadows, walls, mending fences?
We’ve done shadows. Rhythm is an interesting idea — I like that it’s vague but I wonder if people would find it confusing. If we do walls and fences, Wildnerness Wench will have a field day. 🙂
It’s olivia’s turn next so I’ll pass these on to her.
I can do pretty well with fields, too.
🙂
Lovely images today, Andi!
.. and you’ve got such a terrific escort!
Actually, today I have two terrific escorts. 🙂
There’s no shortage of boys to escort me around here, that’s for sure.
Cranky baby. I think he was gassy, but that’s the most I’ve ever heard him yell. He fell asleep, but he looks like he’ll wake up again at any moment. Poor guy.
I have new pictures to upload, so I hope he stays asleep for a few.
A lot of gas in your house today, eh? 🙂
New pics would be good.
Every day is a gassy day when you are vegetarian.
At least I get greens fresh from the garden at this time of year, which seems to help cut back on the methane production.
And freshly picked fruit from the neighboring areas. Mmmmmm.
Heh. I might be inclined to agree…
And we have the SOTU to look forward to as well. Definitely a good time for new baby pics.
So the SOTU is going and I don’t see any pictures. No wonder Finn is so cranky — you make big promises and then … nothing. 🙁
I took a shower….getting the cord now. Can’t have cranky Finn fans…
That’s a good girl.
And strangely enough, one of my co-workers brought in a big pot of beans with cornbread to go with for all of us for lunch today…
Awwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww!
Seconded.
Beautiful, beautiful pic.
You two look so… serene. Awwwwwwwwwwwwwww from me too:)
Beautiful … 🙂
What a sweet picture!!!!
Double awwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww because she looks so happy.
That’s my aunt (dad’s sister). My mom has sensitivities about posting online…
It was interesting to see that Finn seems to recognize my mom (we’ve seen her a lot in the last few weeks). She was delighted, of course. 🙂
Well she’s clearly one happy aunty. You’ll have to figure out some clever way to shoot a picture of your mom with Finn that obscures her face.
I’m going to go set a good example for Finn and go to bed without any fuss (or farts).
Night.
What a delightful expression!
Why thank you. You could try it out at work — Hi, I’m your county assessor, here to serve you without fuss or farts.
Why, whatever do you mean? I’ve been doing that very thing since the first day; although there were those beans for lunch the other day…
Just get a stand-in for your mom, her choice. Maybe Helen Mirren?
Note: I love his little finger sticking up through hers.
What great pictures!!!!
winding himself up for a squawk:
Well, one can’t be perfect company all the time.
🙂
Thanks for the pix. Great to see you!
But WW that can’t be true — I’m sure you are perfect company all the time.
Only when fully medicated — & that was a hell of a long time ago.
🙂
I think we may be working from different definitions of what perfect company is. 🙂
Snowy here and some roads are closed. I was an hour late for work, not that this is a bad thing.
Just so you weren’t late arriving home;-)
Olivia will be posting the diary a little later this morning. The theme this week is Random — your choice so no excuses for not posting.
Flog up: link.
Will flog for food!
Ahhhhhhhhh – Friday, and payday, the best of both worlds! Our office, that was horribly in arrears when we moved in three years ago, became caught up at the close of business today! Our evil overlords that dwell in the dank catacombs beneath the statehouse are pleased mightily.
SOunds like a fabulous day, ID!
I have had the most useless day. Nothing accomplished. Except a trip to the bank.
Sad to say, some days are destined to be like that. If nothing really bad happened though, you’re probably ahead of the game;-)
Way to go, ID! Although I don’t love paying taxes, I’m really glad that the county is back on track.
Thanks! At least now all the entities, town, townships, school can budget without quite so many wild guesses as to when funds will arrive. Too bad little guv Mitch gained control of the school general funds, courtesy of tax protesters.

Sorry I have been absent so much. I guess nest month I will have to live blog the curling again. LOL
the live-blogging of Olympic Curling is the most important BooTrib traditions, in my opinion
ROTFLMAO!!!! I still remember some of my comments from the last time. It has to be the most boring sport on the face of the earth. It makes golf(not Tiger) lo0okm exciting. LOL
To hell with curling. You and I are going for those cute lycra-clad butts!
Glad your ankle is doing better and great news on the impending arrival of your first check.
Those speed skaters sure are cute. LOL
And the luge and skeleton and bobsled. 🙂
Yay for SSDI!!! If you’re not in a sporting mood, but want some good entertainment, here’s one of our favorite foreign films.
At least in an apt. complex they’ll respond quickly. We’re hunkered down with a full pantry, beer, wine and video games. 🙂
At least you only have to stick the beer and wine in the snow to chill it. LOL
Sorry about the crappy (Clevelandlike?) weather, but it sounds as if you’re well prepared.
This would just be another day in Cleveland, but here, with almost no snow removal equipment, it’ll cripple us.
Sounds like you guys have a great weekend ahead of you. 🙂
It’s just bitterly cold here. BooMan is out picking up the CB from his friends house; I had to bribe him to do it with posting something on the front page in his absence. Any suggestions?
My sympathies.
Is there anything left on any shelf in any grocery store?
Probably not, but I didn’t go today to find out. JetBlue cancelled all inbound/outbound flights for tomorrow, yesterday. This is not going to be fun.
I don’t think I’ve ever heard of an airline doing that before — makes it even scarier.
I’m sure I don’t need to say this but … be careful.
