A just fledged Australian Scarlet robin chick, who didn’t seem to have the whole “wing thing” figured out yet. Imogen was able to pick it up for a few photos.
I was kinda surprised to see a chick this late in the year, but then I supposed that they probably had a good enough year to have gone for a second clutch.
Our resident pair of Superb fairy wrens had three clutches this Summer.
Neither me. Although I’m pretty sure that my little car, which is shaped a lot like a VW bug, would float away long before the water got above the bumper.
Hilarious! A “former” county highway supervisor here tried that trick in flood waters a few years ago, but it didn’t go so well for him. Miraculously, he, his passenger and the county highway truck survived, his job – nope.
Note to Andi: That incident took place not far from you at the east end of Grandview Road just off Bellsville Pike.
They are indeed jealous. Lily hasn’t seen snow yet, and it’s never more than a dusting here anyway.
Unfortunately, the top of Mount Welllington (behind Hobart), which gets frequent snows, is closed to dogs, or I’d drive the up there for a treat. Of course, when it snows they usually have to close the summit road (there isn’t a single snow plow anywhere in the entire state).
For driving thrills we get flooded roads instead (which some idiot invariably gets bogged in).
the little shih tzu disappeared sometime in the last 24 hours (She was here when I went to bed last night, but not when I got home from work around 2:30), and she’s never done this before. We’ve called the neighbors and driven around looking, the SPCA isn’t open until tomorrow. and I don’t know what else to do. Any suggestions?

What amazingly round little thing it is — I love the straight-up tail.
Especially because of their tails, I always think of them as “jaunty” (and over-sexed – which might be why they’re jaunty).
Papas are very attentive to young (even when, statistically speaking, less than half are his).
Those two look more jousty than jaunty.
He’s feeding junior. But sometimes feeding young does become a sparing contest.
there’re some new critters at the denver zoo…3 maned wolf pups:
Ooooo. Way cool.
A very unique looking critter, the Maned wolf.
On the front page of our local paper is a photo of a brand new baby dolphin calf born at one of the ocean parks. Be sure to look at the gallery.
Lots of baby goodness.
At least when you get here you’ll now know why these are on nearly every 4WD.
This comment should be under the one from me about flooded roads.
I don’t want to ever drive any place where those would be required.
Neither me. Although I’m pretty sure that my little car, which is shaped a lot like a VW bug, would float away long before the water got above the bumper.
OK, this was funny.
I just know that’s not the way it would turn out if I tried the same thing.
I kept expecting it to go horribly wrong – but some people have all the luck.
Yep … luck hoarders, keeping all the rest of us from having any.

Some more snow for Luna and Lily/Lilly to be jealous of (though not too because it’s almost all gone).

Great shot of the ferocious wolf-dog on the prowl;-)
this is too good to not share…earth bound pets
The next best thing to pet salvation in a Post Rapture World:
the greatest scam evah on the fundies, or one hell of a snark…either
way, it’s grrrrrrrrrreat!
Yep, I’ve seen that before. Either way, it’s a keeper.
Excellent! You’re right, that’s one to share.

I’m sick over this. She’s a sweet little dog.
Flyers! The sooner you start canvasing the surround in areas the much more likely you are to find a dog.
Yay for found puppies!!!!!!!!!!!
