Beck has had the effect of mainstreaming Rush Limbaugh and making Bill O’Reilly look honest. “Respectable company” delights to be in the presence of the newly married Mr. Limbaugh and the tame Fox O’Reilly.
They said in the 1960s that hippies would lead us into decadence. They said in 1980 that if I voted for Carter, I would be freezing in the dark. They said in 2000 that if I voted for Gore, American arrogance in foreign policy would endanger us. They said in 2000 that if I voted for Democratic control of government, there would be gridlock.
I didn’t listen. I voted for Carter and Gore and for Democratic control.

It’s grotesque how the wingnuts scavenge black culture for something to turn into shiny trinkets for themselves. The white racist evangelicals took the beauty and strength of the black church and turned it into soulless megachurch pablum. White power music outfits appropriate the sound African-Americans invented. Now Beck wants a whitey civil rights reenactment with him as Martin Luther King. I guess where there’s no brain and no soul and you want to be famous, the only choice is to imitate your superiors as best you can. It would be pathetic if it weren’t so nauseating.
