Meetup starting at 1pm at Sweet Revenge – will you be at Sweet Revenge for a while in case I get there a little after 1? have a noontime event that usually lasts until 1:40, 2. Can leave early if necessary. Do not want to miss the meetup!!!
We’ll probably be there for most of the afternoon and I’m guessing most people will hang around for awhile but I don’t know how long everybody else will stay. Sweet Revenge has beer and wine so maybe that will help. 🙂
Good morning!
Up early due to jet lag.
Boran, there are many garages around. If you come down 7th Ave for the last stretch of the approach (say from 14th St). Look for signs once you’re below where Christopher St crosses 7th.
Or do a google map for “parking garages carmine new york”.
Are you sure you don’t want to park & ride the train/bus? Driving/parking in the city is no party. I used to do it constantly, but no more. I’m aging fast as it is.
There are a lot less trains on weekends (only hourly to Grand Central, I believe) , and getting down to the west village will put me on a subway system that I hardly understand. I’m probably better off just driving and parking in a garage for a few hours.
Imho, if you can negotiate driving in the city you can definitely negotiate the subway. You don’t need to know the whole thing, just one or two lines. In this case, probably the crosstown shuttle from Grand Central to Times Square & then the downtown A train to West 4th. It’s pretty simple, really, if you don’t attempt to learn the whole map & know where you’re going.
You could probably even cab it, too & it would still be cheaper than paying for parking, from what I understand. Something to think of, also, is the fact that the NYPD wastes not one moment in issuing parking tickets for trespass against that very weird alternate-side-of-the-street-every other day-except-for-two-hours-and-weekends-or-holy days parking rules.
Honestly, the very last thing I’d advise anyone to do in the city is drive.
there’s the downtown bus as well as subway and cabs from Grand Central. On the other hand, driving in the city isn’t that bad on a summer saturday, especially this saturday as everyone will be watching the games
Hi Melanchthon,
You can still make it… 😉
We miss you, and thanks again for all you did for us in Lyon. The diary has been lagging – the text is ready, now I have to help curly with the coding and linkage.
Have fun! Someone eat a Dulce de Leche cupcake for me, so I can enjoy in absentia.
I wish you could be there with us but I don’t like cupcakes so I’ll be going for the savories. 🙂
I’ll be going for whatever is dairy-free. 🙂

Great, will arrive around 1 then!
And now, World Cup: US-Ghana at 2pm.
can we watch at Sweet Revenge?
As of now, it doesn’t look like I’ll be able to be there. Truly ridiculous, since I’m only about 100 miles north.
Maybe I’ll make the meetup in Taz ..
I was hoping you were going to surprise us and just show up. We’ll miss you.
I’ll miss seeing you also. Hope we’ll have fotos!
If you can get down to my place we could drive in together.
Thanks so much for that offer, b2! Much appreciated. Can’t get away from caregiver duties right now, however.
C’est la vie ..
Can’t wait!
Me too!
Andi, do you know if there is a parking garage in the vicinity?

And the above was by me on curly’s laptop.
Time to get the coffee going.
I need some coffee too…so glad I’m working from home this morning before my meeting with the client. How was your flight?
Good morning,
Flight was uneventful, but long travel time since I came via London. Immigration was a drag, long lines…
ugh. At least you have a nice relaxing long weekend ahead. 🙂
Thanks!

I know there is one next to my niece’s apartment which is a couple blocks away on the 100 block of Perry St.
I’m jealous… :-(
