I hoped that a couple of days offline and away from politics would rejuvenate me somehow, but I come back to more stupid than I left, and I find it a bit demoralizing. After several months of environmental degradation in the Gulf of Mexico brought on by lax regulation and oversight of the offshore drilling industry, Minority Leader John Boehner responds by asking for a moratorium on all new regulation of anything for the remainder of the year. It must poll well, right? Because it’s obviously not a way to spur the economy. It’s not a remotely serious proposition. This is what the minority has to offer. And maybe they’re right. Maybe we are this stupid.

Cheer up, Boo. Don’t let the bastards get to you.
The cumulative oil effects are getting to us all – it’s really not more stupid now. You can be rejuvenated, but Boehner will never become less stupid.

well, let’s just say there has been no abatement of the stupid.
John Boehner and his big business friends just want to run a muck again as they did while W was president. No rules, no oversight, and TARP bailout when they screw-up.
Regulations and regulators help bring reliable new technology to the marketplace. During the Bush years, the time it took to register a new ag biotech product through the FDA went up from 1 to nearly 3 years. Things are better now, but could be better. Down under 2 years for products in sustainable ag biotech.
