Once again, it is time for a bloggers’ ethics panel.

The irony is that the cable news organization running this “blogger accountability” concept up the flagpole was the first to employ Glenn Beck and give him his own network show.
And Lou Dobbs. And Nancy Grace.
And don’t forget .. Kyra Phillips has had her own problems with microphones that weren’t turned off … and got caught talking smack about her co-workers
.
The mainstream media “can’t always do that.”
To be held accountable, did we already forget the Bush years, 9/11, terror and torture and the invasion of Iraq?
CNN’s two regulation-happy reporters, think the Sherrod situation can help bring attention to the “necessity” of blogging reform if she brings a defamation lawsuit against Andrew Breitbart.
According to Roberts, Sherrod has “the power now and she also has the profile to maybe bring this into a new light, so we’ll see where this goes.”
Wow! Shirley Sherrod is expected to file a lawsuit against Vilsack and the USDA for losing her job.

"But I will not let myself be reduced to silence."
“If ignorance is bliss the world is comfortably surrounded by the inhabitants of an Eden!”
My question is, “Should there be a “gatekeeper” regulating ignorant and uninformed television newsreaders?”
Imagine, if you will, this conversation. A paraphrase of what is posted in the article BooMan linked.
“There are such a dark side to the internet, Kyra, as you know, but imagine what would have happened if we hadn’t taken a look at the false information surrounding WMD claims about Iraq made by the Bush Administration that had been pointed out on many blogs on the internet? What if we hadn’t plumbed the depths of those claims further and found out what had been posted on the internet was, in fact, true? That the lying reached all the way to the Presidential level?
But Phillips replied that the mainstream media “can’t always do that.”
“There’s going to have be a point in time where these people have to be held accountable,” Phillips said. “How about all these elected officials in the adminisration that lied about this? They say provably false things about life and death situations in order to help their corporate friends and advance their ideological agenda and they’re actually given credibility, which is crazy. They’re a bunch of cowards, they are just people cavalierly sending young people to die to benefit their political ideology.”
It would be so comically ironic if it wasn’t so damn disgusting and sorry that these people are so uninformed. Yet they continue to be the “gatekeepers of information” to the American people. Freaking incredible.
And Greenwald ripped them a new asshole today. Don’t forget, Phillips has made a lot of stupid, and some might say bigoted, comments over the years. She seemingly hates gays and Muslims the most.
Here is a link to the Greenwald piece, for those who may be curious.
Personally, I think the most bizarre part of this (as noted in Greenwald’s second update) is that Breitbart isn’t anonymous. The only thing you can give him credit for is that he puts his real name on every piece of toxic sludge he posts.
They read real good. Who wrote the opinion?
Right. So the actions of that notorious anonymous blogger Andrew Breitbart and that evil anonymous horde at Fox News proves that we need a regulatory crackdown on anonymous bloggers. Makes perfect sense.
