CNN’s idea of incisive reporting is to count how many times a week Obama mentions his predecessor’s name in public. Last week’s count? Two.
The Republicans have so far refrained from offering any kind of positive agenda because they see no upside. As they see it, offering actual policies only provides a target for both Democrats and their own rabid base to attack. The Republican leaders keep promising to unveil something (the latest promise is for late September) but so far, they haven’t done anything beyond letting Rep. Paul Ryan (R-WI) act ridiculous.
The Republicans can’t actually provide an agenda that bears arithmetic scrutiny because they refuse to raise taxes on the wealthy and that means they’d have to abandon all talk of fiscal responsibility and balanced budgets or campaign on decimating people’s retirement security. They are a dishonest party, but they think they have all the momentum. Hopefully, that momentum is going to stall on the shoals of reality before November. The American people deserve an honest debate. But they won’t get one unless they see through the smoke and demand honest answers from the Republicans.
I’d ordinarily agree with you, but in the UK general election we saw people battered by the recession go out and deliver the government into the hands of a party who guaranteed, publicly and in advance, to batter them some more, and worse.
It’s good times for a party running on ressentiment and little else.

Put aside the stupidity of CNN. Doesn’t this bother you though? Because he is essentially letting Dubya off the hook. Basically, Obama is committing political malpractice.
So, what is the correct/ideal number of times a week that Obama is supposed to mention George W. Bush by name? Three? Fifteen? A hundred?
It depends. How often does he talk during the week about the economy? When he does, he should make it a point to mention that he’s cleaning up Dubya’s mess. We can see how toxic Republicans think Dubya is since he’s suspended his book tour until after the November elections. And I’ve read polls that say they now trust Republicans more with the economy. Why is that. Just look at what Ray-gun did with Carter. He made sure to tell everyone he was cleaning up after Carter’s mess. It didn’t matter how much truth there was to it.
I remember that Reagan was still talking about Carter in 1992 against Clinton. But maybe there were other factors going on at that time.
I would love to get a count on how many times Reagan said Carter/s name. I have read that he was still talking about him in his 2nd term. I was too young to witness first hand. Anyone else know?
Bingo!! I don’t know but I am sure it was a lot. And that was part of my point towards Boo.
They won’t. They don’t have to as long as the corporate media continues to let them get away with legislative terrorism, and still blame Dems for the lives they’ve ruined.

As near as I can tell you are the only online figure remotely on the left who believes this is any amount.
