It’s that time of the month when I ask some of you to make a contribution to the care and maintenance of the Frog Pond. For a while now I’ve been dependent on the considerable generosity of our readers to keep this site up and running. It’s a slow month with Congress in recess and lots of people on vacation, but the bills keep rolling in. Some pretty important elections are coming up in under ninety days and I want to do my small part to see that they go well. With your help, I’ll be able to lend my voice to the conversation.
I really appreciate all support, no matter how small. Thank you to everyone who helps keep this place going.
For conversation, what do you think about this?
Not sure about the Balloon Juice post, other than that it’s the usual silliness. However, re: donations, I try to think of my monthly penny in the Booman Tribune pot as a “subscription.” My feeling is that if I can afford 15 bucks per month for Netflix, I can afford the same or a little more for my “subscription” to BT. Lord knows I probably get a lot more use out of it than from the 2 red envelopes on the living room table that have been lying unopened for 3+ weeks now. I’m sure many others here feel the same way.
thanks, lodus. Maybe we should band together and start a BlogFlix company. I just learned they do that for video games.
Good idea. đŸ™‚
Thanks for the reminder and thanks for the sane observations being shared. I shudder to think what will happen if those who elected Obama stay home this election cycle. Progress – not perfection. Change takes time and no one ever gets everything they dream of.
thanks, Anne. It’s good to know there are people who see things the way I do.
Booman Tribune – Priceless!
I’d like to help but I’m broke Booman. Keep up the good work even though I’m to your left (I have a “professional left” badge signed by Robert Gibbs to prove it).
Here’s something sad that has received no coverage other than over at Amy Goodman’s excellent Democracynow.org It seems that with the $26 billion bill helping out education and the states, there was a $12 billion cut in food stamp funding made by Democrats so the bill would pass:
Sent a few. Thanks BooMan.
Can’t contribute, as I’m in debt to banksters without a diploma. Hopefully that changes in May 2011!
Also, what do I think of the post? Meh, it doesn’t get good until the update. As far as Cole’s update, let’s just say that only a fool would bet against him.
my first donation to a blog – check.
I have been coming to this blog on an almost daily basis since probably 2004. I have yet to find a place with such a consistent and dependable wealth of information and perspective on what is going on in the political world. There is never an issue that comes up where someone on this blog does not intelligently expound and enlighten me. There are few resources that have been as valuable to me in keeping my perspective and focus in this insane political world that exists in this country.
As you are the facilitator of this forum, I thank you BooMan. Please accept my humble contribution, though it does not begin to pay for what I have received in return.
Thank you, Richard. Those are very kind words.
You are welcome. It is my sincere hope that you can continue this endeavor for a long, long time. This little community here would be hard to replace.
