I’m sorry I haven’t been around the cafe lately.  My job is totally stressing me out, and ironically, it’s the 2 people who I’ve worked with in the past that are making it so stressful.  Huge difference between working with them as a consultant and as a fellow employee.  TFSM I don’t report to them.  Sorry to complain…

I did have some fun this weekend, playing with Finny, having dinner with a friend, and I even got some knitting and sewing done this weekend – I’ll have to take some pictures of my new bag and sweater-y stuff.

Sorry to hear about the job stress and not to worry, sounds like complaining is in order. Wonderful pic!

Hi, CG. As a friend reminded me this morning: this too shall pass.

Greeting to everyone from up on the hill. (Not The Hill, thank you very much.) Summer slowly winds to a close, the hummingbirds have left for the south & my day-to-day existence is packed so tight it squeaks.  Hope everyone’s set for a beautiful day.

It’s good to see you, WW!  I know this shall pass, but it seems to be taking a bit longer than I’d like.

Finny, on the other hand, is growing up way too quickly.  ðŸ™‚

I think it’s the difference between working from home and working in an office. You only ever get people in small doses so the things about them that might be irritating don’t seem as bad.

I hope it all gets better soon … but glad that Finn is such a lovely balm for it all.

There will be lots more pics of our trip to The Daintree and The Great Barrier Reef. Plus, some underwater videos!

We got home late last night and are still recovering from all the exertion – walking, swimming, kayaking, etc. Plus, it’s a bit of a shock to the system to go from no nighties and just a sheet to flannel jammies and a quilt in less than 24 hours.

No we didn’t.  The quake was pretty localized to the Christchurch area of the South Island of NZ. We were however kayaking with a few Kiwis, who were at least able to check in with a relative in the area.

Imogen and I spent several days in Christchurch a few years ago and really loved the city.

We saw three turtles, all Green turtles (we think). The other possibility is that one was a Hawksbill turtle. They were very relaxed about being observed. Of course, few things eat turtles once they get this big, so they can afford the attitude.

They’re really, really tart without the addition of gobs of sugar and not fit for human consumption until mushy and nearly rotten. I just pick up the windfalls because I know they’re fully ripe. Have to race the deer to see who gets the crop each year. I always leave plenty for them, but they aren’t so courteous if they find them first.

You know, when I was a kid, a lot of the old timers around here did just that. I think they were on to something there. Sometime I’ll try to scare up a photo I have of some old guys sitting on the local “Liars Bench” that my grandfather took back in the 50s. A lot of sitting and staring at nothing in particular went on in that location for decades! Its a thoroughly worthwhile activity, IMHO.

We’re looking at the coldest September on record. At least it’s come with some rain, which we desperately needed. But it’s been a bit of a shock coming back from tropical north Queensland.
