Wow. My New York Giants played like garbage and still won easily. The defense was good, though, considering that the offense kept giving the ball away and giving Carolina excellent field position. But they’ll get killed next week against the Colts if they can’t catch the ball, commit twenty holding penalties, can’t punt the ball, and turn it over four times. How’s your team doing so far?
My fantasy team is holding tough. It’s too early to know if I’ll win. Steven D’s fantasy team has nearly 200 points. I’m glad I’m not playing him this week.
What was with the Giant receivers? Talk about butterfingers!!
Seriously. Manning might have been slightly off, but none of those interceptions were his fault.
And the Eagles are not looking very good. And how did they let Bradley go back in for those few plays at the end of the first half?
that was ridiculous. How are they not aware of the fact he collapsed?
I don’t know .. even Aikman was commenting on it .. and everyone on the field knew it .. but luckily they came to their senses at halftime .. as Bradley .. like Kolb .. didn’t return
No shit. I thought the NFL got suddenly smart about concussions. The ND QB came back in too in the second half against UofM after getting hit so hard he couldn’t see out of one eye. The ND coach said at the half that he might “come back in if he recovers enough to protect himself” Shees!
I had to take a course on concussions to coach Pop Warner football (its a NJ law) and I was shock by what I learned and how much has been learned in just the last few years, especially on the risks of injury after an injury. Most shots take weeks to recover and “quarters”.
I’ve had at least 10 concussions from many years playing football and I am fearful of the harm I’ve done, some of which may yet turn up.
This program http://impacttest.com/about/background has done the most to uncover the effects of concussions and to treat it effectively, but so much is still unknown. My kid’s school uses this as does just about everything from the NHL to WWE and thousands of HS.
It was invented by Mark Lovell who graduated from Northern Michigan’s psych dept. a few years before me (shameless plug)

As good as Andy Reid is as a coach, he does some stupid shit. His use of time-outs yesterday was, um, counter-intuitive. When will ever learn to run the damn ball? His team doesn’t play in a dome or southern California. Every other team around here except New England is a run-first team, and the Eagles have never had a Tom Brady/Randy Moss/Wes Welker talent-level. They have no business playing a stupid West Coast offense. And then he does crap like let Bradley go back out there and play when his spinal cord has just been compressed. Every year I lose more respect for Reid. But he wins. He wins a lot of games.
No arguments. As for concussions they finally gave up on Westbrook after too many concussions. He shouldn’t even be playing now (in SF) and I wonder if different treatment of his concussions would have changed his outcome.
But Westbrook was about as close as the Iggles have ever had for a running game.
But as much as I am genetically predisposed to hate the Iggles I never have had hatred for the Reid Iggles like I do/have had for anything Cowboys — ever.
Lions – We were robbed…..”process” crap. Give me a break, he comes down in the endzone with the ball, his ass hits the ground, he rolls over to push himself up and the ball goes loose, no touchdown. WTF. If that wasn’t a touchdown, I don’t know what is anymore.
I only saw the replay once, but it looked like robbery to me.
But the Lions played pretty good considering starting quarterback Stafford went down. Their Defense was pretty tough and the offense was working good before Stafford went down. I’m encouraged.
Don’t be encouraged. Accept them for what they are, then focus on college football or pick a real NFL team to root for. Don’t torture yourself unnecessarily like so many people I know.
Nope. From the first time I saw it and without even knowing there was a controversy I said it wasn’t a TD.
The ball came out of his hand as it hit the ground. It was not in his possession all the way through his process of hitting the ground. Yes his feet and hip hit the ground prior, but he was still in the process of going down and the ground knocked the ball out of his hand. (Or he let go, but that would be even worse IMO because he should KNOW what the rule is and hang on to the ball all the way to the ground).
And that seems to be the point everyone is missing. Regardless of whether the rule is good and whether it was called correctly, the rule is the rule and the receiver had every opportunity to pull the ball in and complete the catch according to rules that he as a professional should know.
Sorry. The Lions DO deserve better (especially with anything doing with a WR)
How about that 50-yard run by Mendenhall to put the Steelers over the Falcons in overtime.
Go Steelers!

no joy here in the bay area. Niners and Raiders both looked awful. Not merely losing, but stinking the place up.
How bout them Cowbo … er Texans!
The last play of the first half and the last play of the game was like an elixir for people who like to see Dallas lose.
The way the owner, Jerry Jones, treated Tom Landry, Jones mom was probably ashamed of him.
My predictions for the NFC east are holding so far.
Cowboys will find ways to lose. Found 4-5 ways last night.
Skins upgraded with McNabb but they are still not that good and McNabb isn’t enough. Old. DID like how Portis played though. Inspired… for a change.
Iggles look bad and now have a QB controversy that won’t go away.
That leaves the Giants, who will find ways to win all season I think. Unless the Colts can find some run defense next week, it could be long day for them and the Giants are looking at 2-0. Maybe.
Yeah, except Peyton threw for nearly 500 yards. Beating the Colts is hardly easy.
Did say that.
But the Texans beat them decisively with Payton passing for 400+ yards. How do you lose while passing for 400+ years? By getting the ball run down your throat. Think Jacobs and Bradshaw and the G men O line is better than the Texans? I do.
Hey, the Jets lost tonight. Rexie, STFU!!!
Go Dolphins!!!
And they looked undisciplined and the offense looked bad. Put that on Rex.
