Hello again painting fans.
This week I will be continuing with the painting of the Cape May transitional-style house . I’m using the photo seen directly below.
I will be using my usual acrylics on a 12 x 12 inch gallery-style (thick) canvas.
When last seen, the painting appeared as it does in the photo directly below.
Since that time I have continued to work on the painting.
I’ve now addressed the long-standing problem with those upper right widnows. I’ve reshaded the lower portions. I’m now satisfied but it took me a while to figure out exactly what it was that was bothering me. I’m glad to have soleved it.
I’ve now completed the foreground. The lawn and shadows now drape down to the street just as they do in the original photo. The painting is now done. It feels like I’ve been doing this one for tool long but it feels good to be finished.
The current and final state of the painting is seen in the photo directly below.
That’s about it for now. Next week I’ll have an entirely new piece to show you. See you then. As always, feel free to add photos of your own work in the comments section below.
Earlier paintings in this series can be seen here.

Boran2,
Very nice. I hope you`ll write something up about meeting the homeowners with your painting in hand.
I`d suggest bringing along some of your other works also, to show them some of your previous houses.
I made several attempts to meet with the owners. The best I could do was a cousin. He indicated that the owners were expected to come during the weekend but they did not show. I’ll try again in May.
What, no bunting?
Your painting has given this house a beauty that eluded me when you began it. I’d like to see it without those awnings.
Thanks Alice! As to those awnings, I painted most of the details in the photo because the owners wanted to see the painting when it was done. I’m hoping that they like it enough to, umm, buy it. 😉
Of course they will!
Are you still selling on Etsy? I can’t imagine having the courage to sell my artwork. This from somebody who wanted to be a dancer, but turned out too lazy for that. Selling is a whole ‘nother skill, plus you have to take criticism well.
I have some thing on etsy and have actually sold one. For this one I will literally go right to the owner’s door. They actually caught me taking photos of the house back in May.
Bravo! Very nice!
