I agree with James Fallows. Jon Huntsmen needs to shit or get off the pot. He cannot continue to serve as our ambassador to China while gearing up to run for the Republican nomination for president. If he isn’t going to run, he needs to make that crystal clear, and if he is going to run, he needs to resign his post. The former Utah governor is a more qualified and more plausible than anyone currently thinking about challenging Obama. If the Republican base has a practical bone in their bodies, they’ll easily nominate Huntsman, and he would probably win, or come very close to winning. Fortunately, there is no evidence that the Republican base is in any mood to be practical, and experts think Huntsman would fail to win the nomination. I wouldn’t be so sure.
Regardless, Huntsman can’t simultaneously serve in the administration and work to undercut it.

ok, that’s funny. daley’s got a few good one-liners!
When you say win, do you mean win the nomination or win the presidency?
I disagree with the nomination. He’s too liberal.
If Huntsman want to run for prez, he needs to resign.
If not, he could run the chance that he’s be asked to resign. If he’s qualified, I’d say he hasn’t a chance at the repub nomination.
Huntsman is a non-starter among the Wingnuts and they’re running the Republican Party. Sharron Angle or Jan Brewer has a better chance of becoming the nominee or if Sarah Palin wants it, it’s hers (IMHO).
Or, some unknown, slightly mysterious, Know-Nothing billionaire with a private company and an outrageously simplistic, Palin-like message could come forward and take the nomination — the bootlickers would endlessly say, “Well, if he’s a billionaire he must know something about making money.”
How can Huntsman win the general election? Granted, the electorate can be illogical at times, but serving in the Administration you chose to run against? He might be reasonable as Republicans go, but how is he going to explain away his decision to be part of the Obama Administration? Plenty of people will look cross at Huntsman for doing that.
Daniel Larison broke down his chances with GOP field in these 2 posts.

. . . Huntsman can’t simultaneously serve in the administration and work to undercut it.
According to Fallows he’s leaving this summer. The rest of the speculation is just that: speculation without foundation. By the way, since when did you start believing “we the people” have a damn thing to say about who gets elected?
Huntsman is leaving his post soon. It was an AP headline.
New Poll from Rasmussen:
“[N]early half of likely GOP voters who support Palin said they would switch to a third party candidate if the former Alaska governor and current Fox News personality didn’t secure the presidential nomination in 2012.”
