You have to watch this video of Rep. Ed Markey remarks at the committee hearing on climate change. He roasts his Republican adversaries their anti-science attitudes (the same Republicans owned by Big Oil who have proposed a bill that would strip the EPA of its authority to regulate air pollutants, and especially greenhouse gas emissions) as only someone with actual intelligence rather than mere mindless talking points filling up his brain can:
Couldn’t have put it better myself.
Can we repeal the law of gravity? I want to dunk a basketball.
they need to be mocked
The sad part is that not a single one of the people in that room who were the objects of these clever verbal jabs has a single fucking clue about any of the scientific principles to which Rep. Markey referred.
But the saddest thing of all is that if there were actually some vested corporate financial interest in play or a fundamentalist religious significance to be gained by legislating against the law of gravity, these dumbasses would be all over it like stink on shit. I mean, really, they would. Does anyone doubt that they would hold hearings to refute the law of gravity if these circumstances were in play? I mean, after all, gravity is only a theory.
Nah, all we’d have to do is play some old Gerald Ford videotapes to prove that one.
