Obama to Eliminate Warren as Consumer Head
(Bloomberg) – President Barack Obama has chosen a candidate other than Elizabeth Warren as director of the new Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, according to a person briefed on the matter.
The president’s choice is a person who already works at the consumer agency, the person said yesterday. Obama may make the nomination as soon as next week, another person briefed on the administration’s plans said.
“A separate article in the Wall Street Journal said the short list was narrowed to Raj Date, Richard Cordray and Jennifer Granholm.
But Granholm already turned down the job, saying Warren deserved it, and she doesn’t work at CFPB.”
UPDATE Obama announces pick of Cordray for consumer job
(Reuters) 10 min. ago – President Barack Obama said on Sunday he planned to nominate former Ohio attorney general Richard Cordray to head the new U.S. Consumer Financial Protection Bureau.
“Richard Cordray has spent his career advocating for middle class families, from his tenure as Ohio’s Attorney General, to his most recent role as heading up the enforcement division at the CFPB and looking out for ordinary people in our financial system,” Obama said in a statement.
She wasn’t photogenic.
Not in a “cute” way, at the very least. Too dark. Too scowly.
She came off as “too demanding.” Bad PR. Not the Obama brand.
She didn’t play the game by the rules.
She didn’t kowtow to the PermaGov/CorproGov.
What choice did the poor boy have?
He is the exact opposite, as is his photo-friendly family. That’s how he got where he is today.
Besides…I’ll bet anything that at least part of this move is a result of backroom quid pro quo to move the debt vote along.
I can see it now:
Like dat.
Only in more politically correct (Read: insincere) terms.
Yup.

I liked this comment. But by what measure is a United States Senator, even the most junior one of all, “powerless?”
What!!!???
Almost everything that they do is empty political hustle. They vote in party lockstep on bills that they have not read. They spend most of their time and votes pleasing lobbyists so that they will have enough money to advertise themselves back into office through their local hypnomedia.
A bunch of empty, powerless hustlers. Bush ran roughshod over their prostrate asses, and Obama’s looking as if he is going to do the same thing any day now.
Powerless?
You betcha.
Powerful in name only.
Whadda buncha maroons.
Nothing new here. Move along, folks, nothing new…
Wake the fuck up.
