And happier sinuses here today. Finny got a summer cold (oh, those germs at library playtime) and gave it to me, who promptly escalated it into a sinus infection. Ugh.
What did I miss?
I hear it’s going to be another hot one here today, after severak days of more temperate summer weather here. Just in time for the weekend, of course. :/
It’s important to have a sense of humor when the lunatics have taken over the asylum and are destroying the US government and economy on principle, don’t you think?
Do you get the feeling that a lot of folks in Washington, having gotten down into the mud to wrestle futilely over the current insanity, are wandering around at this point with a look of stunned disbelief?
The lung is okie doke. Pneumothorax is just a new word to add to the vocabulary, and I’m hopeful I’ll never have any use for it again. You know, like Bush.
Occasionally the ribs will remind me to take it easy, but they’ve told me that before.
What are the Cabin Boys, who aren’t teething, up to this summer?
The big CBs are actually staying busy with summer construction jobs, replacing a porch and roof on a 200+ year old house at the moment. I think they’re actually enjoying it – I know CBtY is loving having his own spending money.
Commander doesn’t do clean, thankyouverymuch. In fact he’s of the persuasion that if a little dirt never hurt anybody, then a whole lot of the stuff might even be healthy for a guy:
This time the southern California coast, with some stops along the US southwest along the way. Driven this route many a time over the last quarter century. So much I will have to say at some point. Thankfully hitting the beach is on the agenda.
I hope you’ll take some pictures and post them so we can follow your journey. Lots of beauty to be found along the coast and in the desert southwest as well.
I maintain low expectations for our so-called “leaders” – thus far I am rarely disappointed. On the other hand, they do manage to make my kids’ worst meltdowns and occasional acts of cowardice seem perfectly dignified and courageous.
This is the 2nd time I’ve gotten to help dedicate a new public building. This one is very close to my heart, because I worked alongside the EMTs and paramedics for nearly 30 years (I was a firefighter). This is their first night in the new house and about 200 people turned out to welcome them to their new home away from home. Our medic units will not have to sit outdoors in the winter with the engines idling to keep the patient compartments warm for the first time ever!
The building costs were funded for the most part by a federal grant.
I can certainly relate to that. Curse of the WFH self-employed here, though I much prefer my current circumstances compared to my recently completed 4 year gig as a full-time elected county official 😉
One of the nice things about being a (semi*) retired household is that the only way you know it is the weekend is that other people are excited about it. 🙂
* I’m still doing a little contract work but there are no set hours of work.
It was supposed to work that way here, but so far I haven’t seen a whole lot of leisure. Mrs. ID has been absent for several days this week, leaving me to deal with her clients:( The nerve!
My new work schedule is MTW in the office, TF work from home, and I must say, it is improving the quality of my life dramatically. Well, hat and the every-other-Friday summer hours program. We got to go out to the pool yesterday afternoon!

Glad to see we’re starting off Friday with a good laugh (and better sinuses).
We haven’t had any breaks in the hot weather or any rain either. I’m feeling peevish toward the weather gods.
It’s important to have a sense of humor when the lunatics have taken over the asylum and are destroying the US government and economy on principle, don’t you think?
We’ve been getting hit pretty hard with rain. Tomorrow the 90s are coming back to make things worse. Sigh.
Ugh. I’m tired of the mugginess again already – why is it back so soon?
so that’s what all the puddles on the ground came from. Hoping the AC at work stays on this weekend
No longer jealous (at least not for awhile). We had rain last night. Woo hoo!
We had a deluge in the afternoon, with tornado warnings as well. It’s back to sunshine and heat today.
Sorry the rain didn’t cool things off — it didn’t do that here either. The forecast says our first below 90 day in weeks won’t be until next Saturday.
Well Cabin, all you missed was a lot of horse poop.
Will these stalls ne’er be clean?
Neigh.
It appears that they are up to their eyeballs in the stuff in congress, and still feel a need to truck more in, doesn’t it?
Do you get the feeling that a lot of folks in Washington, having gotten down into the mud to wrestle futilely over the current insanity, are wandering around at this point with a look of stunned disbelief?
Is that horse flossing?
Heh.
How is the lung, btw?

Glad to hear you’re healing up.

ooh, another cold weather picture, perfect antidote for today’s free sauna treatment. 🙂
very cute pic!
Hey all. I’m getting to do some traveling. Always fascinating to drive through so much of the US.
Very cool, Don. Where are you driving? Bring us some good stories.

Have a good trip. We’ll be in the southwest in a few weeks.
Bon voyage, Don Durito! Enjoy.
BTW, let us know if you will be in the vicinity of IU – Bloomington. Would love to meet up.
Not this time, I’m afraid, but next time I get up into the midwest I’ll make sure to say something. 🙂
and thank ALL of the assholes in DC for screwing with a perfectly fine summer weekend.
On another note, Finny will be 19 months old tomorrow.
And at 19 months he’s more emotionally mature than our representative in DC.
Finny for Congress!

Poor aged fella — a few more months and you’ll have to start reading You are Old, Father William to him. 😉

Yes. 🙂
A lovely scene! Brown County soul food;-)
Very nice shot!
Beautiful shot, Andi. Thank you!
Very hot & dry here. Praying for rain! The well is low. So much rain at the start of the season, too.
At least there’s a public spring — not yet restricted or polluted.
We got a ton last night. You didn’t?
It’s hard to tell ..
Awesome pic.
Thanks for the compliments, all.
Ha! Another kitty litter muncher. You go, CabinGirl!
Somebody made the troll disappear! Poof!
Oh no- I hope BooMan banned them while he was at it so they don’t come back.

Humpier than usual – I have a day filled with client meetings, starting with lunch at 11:00.
How’s the AC at your place doing?
Andi’s humpy boats need some theme music…
It’s definitely humpier. I’m juggling things here all by myself. Sigh.
Funny, I’m alone in the office this morning as well. I’m thankful its in our living room instead of some office building I’d have to commute to!
Lucky you!

Wonderful for the EMTS and all the Brown County folks too.
Congrats to the early responders with modern facilities.
Congrats! Love how you had so many out to help welcome them into the new building so late at night.
We lured them in with cake;-)
Cool! So do you crack open a bottle of champagne against the building? 😉
Heh. Or on the emergency vehicles now stored inside? 🙂
Well, we had planned something like that, but strangely, the bottle turned up empty just before the ceremony <hic>.
TGIF, only 2.5 hrs till weekend (in my time zone).
Cool! I only have a few hours today too (summer Fridays are awesome)! What are you up to this weekend?
Grr! Have to go in Sunday to finish a project…
Had a relaxing day today, though.
Ack! Not fair!
Sadly, I can only blame my own procrastination…
I can certainly relate to that. Curse of the WFH self-employed here, though I much prefer my current circumstances compared to my recently completed 4 year gig as a full-time elected county official 😉
Hope you got it all done very quickly and are now enjoying the rest of your weekend.

Retirement – you’re doing it wrong. 😉
Hmmm… I wonder if IU offers classes in remedial retirement?
I think FamilyMan should teach them…
Good thought!
Where the heck is he?
Last I saw, his computer was slowly expiring.
Professor FM.
Cutting class the absolute requirement for getting an A.
We should all have that problem. 😉
Agreed. 🙂

Heh. Cute photo.
I thought it was a giraffe. Then I put my reading glasses on.
Very cute! Worthy of a new cafe if I can find a few free minutes to post one…
