I can’t believe the weekend is already over. And this toddler person has really cut into my blogging time…not that I’m really complaining, but it would be nice to be able to actually post comments instead of reading on the fly. 🙂
I can’t beleive it’s already almost officially fall, either. Where did the summer go? We had a lovely day yesterday, sweater weather in the am, then warm enough for t-shirts by noon. And Italian rum cake – yum!
Truly a delightful summer end this season. I never have the last day when you’ve got a late flight back home. You can’t go too far, and normally have to just hang around. The last night here so went to pool halls. No weekend away is complete for me unless I go visit the forest watching the leaves falling down the area enclosed by converging lines.
Nice light/shadow in the Virginia Creeper pic. Glad you had nice weather for Boo’s birthday and some time to relax. Where has the summer gone? Its hard to believe the equinox falls later this week!
I’m just glad that summer has decided to go out with a good bit of rain. I hope this will help the fall color and bring hordes of tourists to town — I’m sure the store owners could use that.
Not to mention the lessening of fire danger in the hardwood forests – always a scary thought. We’re off to Carmel again for another installment of Mrs. ID’s continuing adventure in periodontics.
Yeah, a doc floated the idea that I have the beginnings of COPD, which would explain a few things. So it goes. At least the last day or two have been good ones. I’ll take ’em when I can get ’em.
Thanks everyone. I have been breathing relatively clearly (for me) after dealing with a persistent bout of bronchitis. I’m pretty much a chronic case with that any more. But at least today I’m breathing well.
I had a really bad bout of bronchitis after which I developed asthma (in the late 80s). I had a lot of trouble for several months and nothing the doctor tried worked. Then she put me on Advair and I have hardly had any trouble since (hate to shill for big pharma but I hate not being able to breathe more).
But I hope the shilling isn’t needed and you find you can breathe enough so that you don’t need medication.
I’m hoping I don’t get to that point either, but I have heard good things about Advair and will gladly give it a go if I do get to that point. I did learn that it was a good thing I quite smoking when I did all those years ago, otherwise I’d be likely battling far worse problems.
The green is starting to go here too. We’ve finally been getting rain here but the summer drought and all those hot temps seems to have convinced the woods that an early fall would be a good idea. Some of the trees have even gone straight to brown.
Read about your dental woes downstream — sorry to hear it. Seconding ID on the wish for a kind dentist.
We’re starting to see color here. Just in time for me to stare woefully at my retired camera.
Tomorrow it’s officially Autumn, though I tend to think of it more as the Equinox. There’s more of a sense of the cycle there.
Happy woodland Fall to you, Jim & the Pack! May the coming seasons be gentle on us poor forest folk.
Yeah, drought is tough on the forest but have huge rains and floods probably isn’t that good for it either. I’d all our woods deserve a bad weather respite.
Hi, folks. Looks like we’ve got the ups & downs ’round these parts. Over here on the mountain we’ve got rain forecasted for at least the next week. O boy!
Hope y’all have a good one.
Thanks! You do the same. Best wishes to Mrs. ID for quick healing.
I’ll be going to the dentist fairly soon for dentures. He may want to pull out what I’ve got left. Can’t wait!
I’d rather be Dick Cheney’s support hose.
Hey, Luscious. Thank you. I’ve done the dental school thing whenever possible. Alas, the closest school for me is probably in NYC, about 130 miles to the southeast. I’d rather travel down there for something more enjoyable, but that’s not practical either!
Speaking of acting as an educational aide, I once filled that role while attached to a dentist’s chair with tubes at NYU. Seems the kids had never seen track marks close up before. I felt like conceptual art.
Good morning,
I need some tech advice…
My laptop is about to give up the spirit and a new one is not quite yet in the budget. Hence, I use my iPod Touch for online reading.
Recently, it is pulling a trick on me; I can log in, but I am immediately logged out again without any action on my part. This happens at BT and orange, but not a couple of other sites that require a password (Yahoo mail, etc.). Very frustrating. Anyone with an idea of what may be causing this?
Thanks boran,
I’ll see if I can figure out downloading and switching OS on the iPod. The weird thing is that it has worked fine all the time until about a week ago.
Thanks Andi,
I have no idea how to clean the cache on an iPod touch.
Just checked the ‘settings’ folder and found nothing there. Ah well, maybe it will sort itself out..
I found this article on Apple support which describes how to clear the cache and cookies. It looks like you’ll have to clear all the cookies so I’d go with trying just the cache first (though the cookie is the more likely culprit).
You are a savior!
I cleared both cache and cookies. Still got immediate auto log out. Then changed setting from no cookies allowed to allow cookies from sites visited – bingo!
The only remaining mystery is that I cannot recall ever changing that setting one way or the other…
I really miss my Ektachrome and Fuji motion picture stock. Mrs.X’s Step-dad was a cinematographer and would get end reels of some good stuff and we’d hand roll it. One of these days I need to scan some transparencies.
More than a few of ours are winding up on the ground the last couple of days, along with the walnuts. Having a walnut tree partially overhanging the roof gives new meaning to the “things that go bump in the night”.
I can’t believe the weekend is already over. And this toddler person has really cut into my blogging time…not that I’m really complaining, but it would be nice to be able to actually post comments instead of reading on the fly. 🙂

Yep, it is getting chilly already. Any new photos of that toddler. Or even the cake. 🙂

What the hell are you talking about, Bernard?
Hi ww,
I sense a smell of highly processed meat imitation. Looks like the sig line was meant as a link to some commercial site.
Nice light/shadow in the Virginia Creeper pic. Glad you had nice weather for Boo’s birthday and some time to relax. Where has the summer gone? Its hard to believe the equinox falls later this week!

No surprise to you — we worry a lot of about fire danger in the woods when there’s a drought.
Wishing her good luck and little pain.
I hope everything went well, and that Mrs. ID is recovering nicely.
Yes, wishing her the best in this next one
Best of luck to Mrs.ID. I’m off to the dentist tomorrow. Sigh.
Mrs. ID says thanks, everybody. She spent a total of 7 hours in the chair over the last two days, but significant progress was made.
Sorry about your bad fortune, b2.
Yay! New cafe! And I’m feeling well for the first time in about three weeks. I’ll call it a harbinger of good things. 🙂
Glad to “see” you here and happy to “hear” you’re feeling well;-)
what he said. and greetings all. a little overwhelmed these days, dropping by to say hi.
Yeah, a doc floated the idea that I have the beginnings of COPD, which would explain a few things. So it goes. At least the last day or two have been good ones. I’ll take ’em when I can get ’em.
Welcome back! Glad you’re well.

I love Advair. and I’ not afraid to shill… 😉
I shouldn’t be either — it really made a huge difference. I was almost falling apart from lack of sleep because my wheezing was so bad.
I’m hoping I don’t get to that point either, but I have heard good things about Advair and will gladly give it a go if I do get to that point. I did learn that it was a good thing I quite smoking when I did all those years ago, otherwise I’d be likely battling far worse problems.
Mrs. ID also uses Advair intermittently as needed. She has been asthmatic since childhood, but has long periods of lung clarity sometimes.

A perfect pic for today’s morning fog. how are you this morning?
I’m trying to keep eczemai baby happy while I get ready to head in to the office – last day this week!
All is fine here — it rained this morning and so the dogs and I had a lovely misty walk in the woods.
Hope Finny feels better soon. And happy early Friday.
What a great picture, Andi! Really sweet & green.
We’ll be saying goodbye to all our greens pretty soon. Sniffle.
The green is starting to go here too. We’ve finally been getting rain here but the summer drought and all those hot temps seems to have convinced the woods that an early fall would be a good idea. Some of the trees have even gone straight to brown.

I’m sorry to hear about your trees. Wow.

And no, I wasn’t drinking when I typed that. My brain and my fingers just lost contact intermittently.
Understood & I agree!
Good morning, all. Very nice day around here. going to pretend not to be stressed today
Good morning Errol! I hope that it’s not to stressful for you today. Looks like mine won’t be too bad.
I hope instead of pretense you get reality.
Fake it till you make it, as they say…I hope things lighten up for you soon.
Hi, folks. Looks like we’ve got the ups & downs ’round these parts. Over here on the mountain we’ve got rain forecasted for at least the next week. O boy!

Just try to keep yer powder dry, ww;-)
Thanks! You do the same. Best wishes to Mrs. ID for quick healing.

I’d rather be Dick Cheney’s support hose.
Sorry to hear. Hope you have a compassionate dentist.
Thanks for kind words, ID.
Actually, I don’t at this moment have a dentist. I have a recommendation.
I haven’t seen a dentist in about 20 years. Ergo the dentures.
Really, I’m a cautionary tale on so many levels I should be rented out to schools. Sort of a moral ‘rent a wreck’.
🙂
“…we will not regret the past, nor wish to shut the door on it.”
Words I
canmust live by.Actually, I was at the sink tonight — as I am so very often — & the thought occurred to me that my past is a bore & I’d just as soon forget it.
Just like I tend to forget the present.
🙂
Try a dental school. They’re way cheaper and everything is overseen by an actual, you know, dentist!
Hey, Luscious. Thank you. I’ve done the dental school thing whenever possible. Alas, the closest school for me is probably in NYC, about 130 miles to the southeast. I’d rather travel down there for something more enjoyable, but that’s not practical either!
Hope you’re doing well.

Oh, Wench, that made me literally LOL. 🙂
conceptual art- LOL here too. 😉
Me, too — in retrospect.
🙂

Hi ask! I’m not sure what the problem is but I suggest downloading another browser. Opera Mobile is a good one.
Thanks boran,
I’ll see if I can figure out downloading and switching OS on the iPod. The weird thing is that it has worked fine all the time until about a week ago.
My ipod touch is actually frozen in itunes mode. If anyone has a sugggestion…
Have you tried to reset it (hold in the button on the front and the button on the top edge simultaneously for about 10 seconds)?
I’ll try that! Thanks!
Hi Ask. I’d guess it might be a problem with the cookies. Try clearing the cache and deleting the cookies for those two sites.
Thanks Andi,
I have no idea how to clean the cache on an iPod touch.

Great! And it’s so nice to be deemed a savior, especially since I was only near but not at the actual salvation. 🙂

so much fun.
That was fun. 🙂
Very cool!
I keep forgetting your all in here.
Biltmore Pond
Hi BobX ~ lovely image!
Oh, that is gorgeous!
Just gorgeous. Glad you remembered that we are all in here. 🙂
“Mama don’t take my Kodachrome away”
I love the saturated colors.
I really miss my Ektachrome and Fuji motion picture stock. Mrs.X’s Step-dad was a cinematographer and would get end reels of some good stuff and we’d hand roll it. One of these days I need to scan some transparencies.
That is beautiful!
hanging out in Panera, doing my final review for my credential ing exam for work at noon…Finny and BooMan are off at the farmer’s market together.
Wish me luck?
I hope everyone is having a relaxing day.
Hope its quick and easy!
Sadly, I found it long and painful. :/
Hopefully, I did better than I thought; either way, I’ll know by the end of October.
Drat! Those delayed test results are so annoying! I’m sure you did fine.
I’ve told the dogs to cross their claws for you (they’re so much cuter than me, I figure they’ll have more influence of grade gods).
I’m crossing my claws for you too, CG. Good luck!

Good morning to all, from the foggy Hudson Valley. Photos to come later on.
Hi boran2! Would love to see some foggy photos. We’ve had a bit of that here as well the last day or so.
Sorry ID, I got back outside too late. No doubt that the fall will provide many other opportunities.
