Pennsylvania man battles black bear in own living room

(NY Daily News) – Before the sun rose above his rural Oliver Township, Perry County home, Moyer let his dog out as he prepared to head off to start his pre-dawn shift at a local factory. Moyer told CBS 21 News that no sooner had he let the dog out, he heard it howling and running around the home. That’s when he opened the patio door and called for the dog to come in.

“She came in, right through the house. Right on her tail was the bear, right into the house.”

Moyer said that before his brain could fully register what his eyes were seeing, the bear had knocked him to the ground. He wrestled with it on his living room floor.

“It was a nightmare. I’m 6′ 6″, 300 pounds. The doctor said if I was average size, I’d probably be dead.”

Game Commission spokesman Jerry Feaser said Pennsylvania has not experienced a fatality from a black bear in more than a century.

“It is our suspicion at this point that it was likely a female defending its cubs, because a bear encountering a dog is more likely to run away,” Feaser said. “Black bears going into a home are an extremely rare situation.”

"But I will not let myself be reduced to silence."

  Yeah, it was really over at 4-1.
  
  AJ pitched well tonight. The Tigers have somehow turned ice cold after being the hottest team in baseball in September. I mean the Yankees are good, but they’re not THAT good.
  
  I’m going into mourning for a week if the Tigers lose to the Yankees, after my beloved Braves crashed in such miserable fashion last week.
