Apparently, there’s a debate tonight.

Rick Perry is toast. He’s just not able to do a debate. Just pathetic.
Herman Cain and his 9-9-9 nonsense may be scoring points but it’s an awful plan. But hey, it’s three digits. That must be good, right? 9-9-9! It’s all 9-9-9 all the time! Repeat after me! 9-9-9!
Michele Bachmann is trying really hard to come off as a “Professional Tax Attorney” but she’s really just a fool.
Rick Santorum is REALLY ANGRY tonight. I don’t see him moving up.
Jon Huntsman is probably the only sane person at the table.
Ron Paul hasn’t said anything memorable to me tonight. That’s a shame.
Romney is looking good though, debate-wise.
The Twitter seems to think Romney is having a field day. I don’t know. I’m not watching and don’t care.
Romney is looking good though, debate-wise.
As I said on the Twitter machine to 50 different people, that’s basically calling Romney the tallest midget in the circus.
You
re right. This is a pathetic bunch of clowns. it REALLY is. I have trouble swallowing the fact that Obama will probably lose to one of these fools. But Americans buy all kinds of crap that gets promoted on the TeeVee. And thy will probably buy one of these fools as their new leader next fall.
I’d better renew my now-expired passport.
“Repeat after me! 9-9-9!”
Turned over its <gasp> 6-6-6! Spread that one around the wacko fundamentalist sites.
Michele Bachmann explicitly made that point tonight. 9-9-9 upside-down is 6-6-6.
Really? These people are truly unhinged!
That ensures that will be at the bottom.
None of these guys really wants to be Prez (obviously). They aren’t even trying to get at Mitt. it’s obvious, that these debates are just fluffer. Perry was put in to take the sails out of Bachmann. Newt sourpuss face was a non-starter to begin with. Herman Cain was never gonna get it. Huntsman is a douche, Paul is crazy, and Santorum is a “frothy mix…”joke.
So since no one else is getting in the race, and the other candidates seem to be not even trying to dethrone Mittens, looks like Romney’s it.
Here’s my question, since the other candidates aren’t using the enormous amount of op-repo on Romeny to cut him down to size, I hope that he Obama/Biden campaign are girding their loins and just waiting out the nom process and then will “release the kracken” of op-research they have. Is there enough op-res for Obama to use to bring Mittens down?
Well the debate is now over and if you didn’t watch, you didn’t miss much tonight. Not as far as I can tell anyway. 9-9-9!!!! Did I say 9-9-9? Oh I guess I did.
Oh lord, please just take me now if this is what our country faces (even though I am an atheist.) And the media types are all trying so hard to take it seriously. Ugggh!
so Perry is fizzling, and Cain is stupid. Bachmann has crazy eyes and Huntsman aint’ that funny. Newt is a bigotted and rcist as ever, and Santorum is just a “cleaner, boyishly handsome” version of Newt, so the coronation of Romney is set.
It’s seems like a better question is who will Romney pick as his running mate?
Ain’t no way Romney is picking Cain (what votes does he pic up by picking Cain as VP, it sure ain’t Black votes!). Palin’s out and if u can’t have the real thing, why would you want a substitute (Bachmann). Santorum’s “frothy mixe” problem is it for him. If Christie’s too “robust” to be POTUS, then how is being VP any better? Huntsman…um, 2 Mormons on one ticket…um no. Pawlenty…um, 2 boring douches on one ticket…um no.
So who does that leave?
He’s already said he wants Marco Rubio.
Speaking of Senator Anchor Baby Rubio, has he commented yet on the anti-HISPANIC laws in Alabama yet?
Hasn’t Rubio already said no?
It would be stupid of Rubio to do it now, IMHO. He waits til 2016, He has 4 years under his belt, and the Latino population is expected to just keep getting bigger which means that maybe the Latino voting population will also increase, and he could be at the top of the ticket instead of a 2nd player.
VP candidates ALWAYS say NO until they get that phone call. The they say yes. If they told the press that they want or expect to be chosen, they will not be.
Plus as I’ve said previously, not all Latinos vote alike, and Mexicans think differently than Dominicans, Domincans think differently than Puerto Ricans, Puerto Ricans think differently than Cubans…ya get my drift. Other than speaking the same language, their is not as much of a “shared experience” among the Latino community, IMHO, so Rubio being Hispanic may not be enough to bring a large majority over to Mittens side, especially with all the crap Mittens has been saying about immigration lately. Plus Rubio seems to be of the “I got mine, now you get your” Herman Cain-esque school of hard knocks when it comes to immigration.
If putting Rubio on the ticket helps Romney (or whoever gets the nomination) win Florida, then that’s more than most VP candidates do. In fact, it would probably be (electorally speaking) the most important VP selection since Kennedy picked Johnson (and won Texas) in 1960.
Low info voters will see the name and that’s that. White racists would be turned off, but their alternative is to vote black! Brown racists will just see the Spanish name.
Dude, you are so right.
Thanks everyone for your comments (it’s as close to watching the debate as I’m going to get).
Right now it’s hard for me to see anyone beating Romney. On the other hand, in October 2007 Hillary Clinton was cruising to the Democratic nomination, while Fred Thompson was the closest challenger to GOP front-runner Rudy Giuliani.
One thing that bothers me is how did Romney ever become Governor of a state as liberal as Massachusetts ? Was the previous Governor corrupt? Did his opponent drop dead the day before the election? Was Diebold involved?
Does Romney have some magical attraction that makes him seem non-Republican? How did he do it? And can he do it again? Forget the Mormon angle. Even if a lot of Republicans stay home in Alabama and Mississippi, they are not going to elect a black man in those states, period. So Romney gets those electoral votes for just being white.
If Romney can peal off Massachusetts and California, I believe he wins (haven’t done the math). I feel that he has a good chance of taking Illinois as well by pushing the anti-tax thing, especially is the R’s run someone who appears sane for Governor.
Romney played Rockefeller Republican in his race for the Massachusetts governorship and was positively social-issues-wonderful for the Bay State voters.
Of course, after he got elected and had put in a few months playing Governor, he basically checked out of governing, headed off on the campaign trail for the White House, and started dissing and mocking all those squishy-liberal-sounding things he’d been saying to woo us.
Plus, Massachusetts has a habit of electing Republican governors and massively Democratic legislatures.
Thanks. Do you think he has the chance of doing it again? I discount his repudiation of his record. After the convention he can swing like a screen door and the MSM will make it seem like he was a populist all along.
A chance? Sure, if he gets past the GOP base-crazies to the nom, and depending on circumstances leading up to the election. Too many variables to make any predictions at this point but it’s not impossible — after all, he looks like a president right out of Central Casting, and he’s smooth.
You just better pray he doesn’t win, though, because any Republican who takes the White House will pull a GOP-dominated Congress in with him, and Romney will do noting to check the worst excesses of the unleashed nutcases. He for damned sure won’t govern as if he were still trying to win over Bay State voters.
