It went well. I paced myself and was able to run the entire route. (Of course, I set no records at 29 minutes and 51 seconds.) Being a bit nuts, I’ve actually signed up to do a 5 miler right in my town this coming Sunday.
I’ve given out so many donuts that I feel like going out to the store and buying more. By the way it looks like they’ve been hitting not only the recommended diaries and recommended world diaries, but also the recent diaries. The troll known as “vhalery” has left his/her/it’s handiwork all up and down. There are still a few left from “exam” whom I tried to feed donuts a day or two back.
hola ID. things are good. I spent three out of the four weeks of September in Europe (Italy, Paris & Germany). Fantastic trip but now trying to figure out how to pay for it 😉
rightbackatcha! I live just on the other side of the mountain now that framed your sunrises during the last visit, would be great so see you both & join you on some trails.
I bought a mountain bike a few months ago. Now that the danger of having the tires turn to goo from melting, I’ll be using it around the Tucson Mountains (my neighborhood).
Rain all day here too. For me its a welcome change from all the weeks of drought in July and August and I didn’t have anything outdoorsy planned anyway. The cats don’t seem too pleased with it though.
Maybe we can figure out a time next year when we can do the spa that Mary found in the Hocking Hills. Jen is still up for that one (I saw her in July).
My memory is a little hazy — can’t imagine why — about this but it seems like the choices to emulate were more like hibernating squirrels or chatty magpies.
And it was a beautiful sunny day and we’re going to get another one today … which apparently helps to bring crowds to town. We drove over to Bloomington yesterday and on the way back Van Buren street was backed up to the light and around on 46.
Oktoberfest at the microbrewery over in our neighborhood was jammed to the rafters and out into the street all day. Lots of local musicians stopped in, including my brother, who performed at 6:00. No oompah bands, though.
Sounds like a good time was had by all (except maybe for the couple of spoilsports I read about in the paper).
But I guess I shouldn’t say anything about the weather because now it’s clouded over and the forecast has changed from sunny to cloudy with a chance of drizzle. 🙁
I wondered about the weather when the sky lit up red early this morning. Thought about the old sailors’ rhyme and our old friend W. Shakespeare’s great description of foul weather.
“Like a red morn that ever yet betokened, Wreck to the seaman, tempest to the field, Sorrow to the shepherds, woe unto the birds, Gusts and foul flaws to herdmen and to herds.”
He’s really getting to be a big guy, isn’t he? Finny’s facial expression strikes me as inquisitive to the max. Best of luck with that aspect of his personality;-)
I think Sniff was perturbed to find himself that close to Bebo and Bebo was maybe a little worried about what Sniff might do. Sniff does not tolerate fools Bebo lightly.
Well, I tried, but as it happened, I ran out of reading material and had to traverse the main artery into town over to the library, a feat akin to climbing the Great Wall barehanded if attempted on an October Saturday. The pack looks content, but ever on the alert for trouble;-)
Speaking of trouble, a couple of cowgirls and their ponies got pretty badly lost in the south end of the state park over the weekend. Guess they were having a good time until it began to get dark and they realized they had no clue where they were. As it happened, they were in the Blue Creek area, where local fire crews found them around 10 pm. The 911 center located their cell phone with GPS.
I’m always surprised by people’s ability to get lost in the park since if you head directly north/south/east/west you will hit a road before very long. Jim and I have done lots of cross-country hiking in the park and never got even close to lost. I’d always choose south since then you can have lunch at Story. 🙂
And thus began another busy week, although thankfully considerably less busy than the prior two. I might actually get a couple full nights’ sleep before all is said and done.
Happy Monday!
I love this pic, Andi – may everyone’s week be as golden!
Thanks, CG. I do love how light can make the most mundane things entrancing.
Especially with that dark background.
Sheer luck that they were backed by dark green trees sitting in shadows.
How was the run?
It went well. I paced myself and was able to run the entire route. (Of course, I set no records at 29 minutes and 51 seconds.) Being a bit nuts, I’ve actually signed up to do a 5 miler right in my town this coming Sunday.
That’s really great. And the time sounds pretty good to me, especially since you’re just getting started.
Well that and temps below 90.
Oops, hit reply on the wrong thread.
90 degrees projected for today.
Yes, I’m over the heat. Why do you ask?
love the pic!!

Adventure of a lifetime. The tourist could have been forewarned by reading Herman Melville.
"But I will not let myself be reduced to silence."
Good morning to all! It’s beautiful here in the Hudson Valley. More running later on.
Troll zapping fun to be had over in the rec diaries. Little devils are spawning all over the place tonight.

I’ve left a few donuts myself today.
I just unleashed a great smiting. Let me know if I missed anything.
(hi to everyone!)
Hi Man ee! Hope all’s well with you.
hola ID. things are good. I spent three out of the four weeks of September in Europe (Italy, Paris & Germany). Fantastic trip but now trying to figure out how to pay for it 😉
Thank you!
no problema, since I’m not able to be around as often as I would like, it allows me help out in a small way
Howdy Manny. Good to “see” you. Someday Jim and I will have to get back there and really see you.
P.S. Smiting needed in the cafe.
rightbackatcha! I live just on the other side of the mountain now that framed your sunrises during the last visit, would be great so see you both & join you on some trails.
Good to see you here, Manny!
It’s always good to stop in. Hope all is well with the b2 family.
Everyone is good. One of these days I’m gonna make it down to Tucson. Sadly, Madame boran doesn’t tolerate heat well. Perhaps a winter trip to Az.
That would be awesome!
I bought a mountain bike a few months ago. Now that the danger of having the tires turn to goo from melting, I’ll be using it around the Tucson Mountains (my neighborhood).
The only thing that could make a Tucson-area hikes even more enjoyable would be to share them with you.
“You both know more about the trails than I do around here,” he muttered guiltily 😉
What an excellent reason to do the hike to Wasson Peak gain. I loved that hike and its (almost) right in your neighborhood.

Isn’t it nice to have photogenic neighbors? Lovely shot – from the dam, I’m guessing.
Isn’t it, though. If it weren’t for the camp, I wouldn’t have any open shots of hillsides.
But you’re exactly wrong — the shot is taken toward the dam but slightly off angle so the dam is only showing in part of it.
I think I can see it now that you pointed it out. Probably time for a visit to the eye doc:-(
Blocked once again! Sigh.
OMG, that is just gorgeous! I really have to come visit there one of these days.
We are back to rain, rain, rain today. At least it should clear up before the weekend (which is starting a day early for me this weekend). Woohoo.
Rain all day here too. For me its a welcome change from all the weeks of drought in July and August and I didn’t have anything outdoorsy planned anyway. The cats don’t seem too pleased with it though.
Welcome mat is always out as is the spot to pitch your tent (if you bring the whole clutch).
I was thinking about our Louisville meetup this week and wishing we could do something similar again. That was such a fabulous weekend.
Maybe we can figure out a time next year when we can do the spa that Mary found in the Hocking Hills. Jen is still up for that one (I saw her in July).
The rain has finally ended here (this AM) and it’s sunny! Woohoo!
I didn’t know magic mushrooms grew around here, b2.
🙂
Point me to them please!
Cow pastures are a most fertile locations for those who would emulate Don Juan… or was that cactus – mind’s a bit cloudy there;-)
Wait, some folks emulate cactus?!! Who knew?
Actually, some of the stuff floating around in the 60s could make one feel very comfortable as a cactus;-)
My memory is a little hazy — can’t imagine why — about this but it seems like the choices to emulate were more like hibernating squirrels or chatty magpies.
The “frost is on the pumpkin” around here this morning.
We’re off to music circle this morning, and hen a drive out to hawk mountain for a hike with CBtY. Yay!

What a big boy he is! Last time I saw him he was so little. We’ll have to do another meetup sometime.
what a wonderful pic of Finny!!! love the pensive look!
Oh my, he is growing up. Pretty seen he’ll be legging it down the trail on his own.
… with the help of a little graffiti.
A Burger King billboard was made more truthy in Seattle.
Truthy indeed. The true cost of fast food.

They look perturbed to be disturbed.
I think Sniff was perturbed to find himself that close to Bebo and Bebo was maybe a little worried about what Sniff might do. Sniff does not tolerate

Through all the dogs we’ve had, one thing has remained constant: nothing beats a good sun spot.

So much for the rumor that “the drought will kill the fall color”. Nice!
