Politico says so:
-A top Cain advisor tells us the former candidate plans to endorse in the next few weeks – certainly this month, in order to affect the Iowa caucuses – and is most likely to go Gingrich. They have a personal relationship that goes back to Gingrich’s days as Speaker, a much longer relationship than Cain has with any of the others. And they disagree on few issues. Cain can offer some Iowa organization and his power as a surrogate in the African-American community (including churches), a weakness for the GOP.
That would certainly make sense: beyond issues, they’re both from the Atlanta area, they’re both carnival barkers who’ve perfected the art of appealing to the bigotries of The Rubes, and they both think women are a means to an end. Of course, Politico is delusional on both Cain’s Iowa organization (sic) and his appeal to African-Americans. But each guy doubtless has boundless admiration for the other’s hustles. What could come between a bromance like that?
Gingrich is pure sleaze. Does (sic) mean that he has no Iowa organization?
Does (sic) mean that he has no Iowa organization?
Neither of them had/has any Iowa organization. Up until a month ago, Cain’s Iowa staff consisted of two people in a Des Moines office(seriously!!). And Newt just opened up his first Iowa office two weeks ago.
Cain has an Iowa organization, but it got a very late start and won’t add much.
Brothers from different mothers, as Cain would say.
Cain has NOT real AA in comparison to Obama. And even without Obama as a GOP Cain would still have no real AA support.
I know liberals don’t like Colin Powell or Condi Rice much, but damned if any liberal thought for any reason reason that Condi or Colin were dumbasses just shuckin’ and jivin’ for the man.
For many AA all they see in Cain is an idiot who’s makes us all look bad.
you speak the truth, lamh.
I disagreed vehemently with Condi, but I had no doubt that she came PREPARED.
same with Powell.
this MINSTREL was just ridiculous….shinning and grinning.
this is from Roland Martin’s routine Republican on his panel about Cain…just reinforcing what you said:
Despite the policy differences that many African-Americans have with them, figures like Powell, Watts and Rice came to the policy debate with their facts and intellect in check. In other words: you knew that they knew that serving in public life was an honorable profession and they respected the American people too much to waste their time by not coming to a discussion prepared.
I can’t say that about Herman Cain. When he came to the policy debate his facts were often wrong. He had a hard time grasping some of the most basic foreign policy points. He made a mockery of the dignity of running for president by suggesting that his Secret Service codename would be “cornbread” and that he if he was elected president he would not hire a Muslim for his administration.
I can only imagine that when they heard Cain speak, Dr. Rice, Secretary Powell and Congressman Watts looked on in shocked horror. Regardless of whether or not you’re an African-American Republican, can you blame them?

Amen.
The ironic thing here is that any AA seriously considering voting for Cain in the first place is by definition a committed fReichtist who would put up with ANYTHING so long as it was wearing a GOP label. According to the right, it was only us deluded plantation residents voting for Obama simply b/c he was black; they would NEVER do that.
And Cain was counting on that.
He’s probably still amazed that he got as much traction as he did; he was simply trying to move some product, and here these silly rubes are not only spending the money but pushing him out to a lead.
As for his endorsement of Gingrich, no better way to keep the name out there than by attaching it to the latest attention-getter.
May Obama’s enemies continue to be this stupid.
Not-Romney Twin powers…. ACTIVATE!!!
FTW !
I suppose the Governator and Tiger Woods will be next to endorse Gingrich…
It’s a transparent play by Cain to try to be the VP nominee.
This is all so surreal. I remember when a book tour was just showing up at places and talking about your book. Now book tours are complicated.
If Cain endorses Gingrich, I guess I’ll have to hang up the notion that Cain intended little else with his candidacy than to divide the Non-Romneys. I’ve otherwise had a hard time making sense of Cain campaign’s total lack of a ground game and seeming unwillingness to challenge the frontrunner. “I’m going after Romney,” Cain said. Never happened. Even Pawlenty was willing to take shots at Mitt, at least when they weren’t on stage together.
If Cain endorses Gingrich or anyone but Romney, then I guess I was wrong. That said, I’m expecting him to endorse Romney again.
