My free New York Times access is used up for the month, and I’m in no mood to pay them. So, I have to get my David Brooks second-hand. It’s better that way. It’s hard to believe how bad his latest column is. I mean, the standards are already incredibly low. Some things that I still haven’t figured out are why it is okay to flee the United States so you can continue to engage in polygamy, and then it is okay to return to the country without going through the proper immigration procedures. Does David Brooks really want to try to paint Romney’s ancestors as honorable? I don’t think Mitt Romney wants people to know anything about his ancestors. The less said about the church in Nauvoo, Illinois, the better. The less said about Romney v. the United States, the better. The less said about Romney’s dad being born in Mexico, the better. And that his dad was snuck back into the country when he was five? It’s a good thing they hadn’t built that dang fence, huh, Mitt?
Yet, of course, none of that means Mitt should be judged for the sins of his grandparents and great-grandparents. But that’s precisely why David Brooks is so stupid.
Just press refresh the page and then press escape before the page totally loads. Paywall avoided.
Oh no, seabe! Contributing to the righty meme of those evil libruhls looking for a free handout. 🙂
Better than being so stupid as to pay for David Brooks.

was that the best idea they had for creating a paywall? wow that’s pretty easy to get around
I copy/paste headlines from the NYT site into Google and can read up to 5 articles/day that way. It only takes about 10 seconds of “effort” – but even so I find I usually read only 2-3 stories/day – BBC has become my main news site, backed up by Google News.
