Obama’s Enthusiasm Gap – Not

Just got a call from Obama for America reminding me to vote in tomorrow’s (edit: today’s) Democratic primary.  A couple of things:

1 – This wasn’t a robocall.  It was an actual human being—a volunteer who wasn’t even completely fluent with the “script” he was working off of.

2 – Not only is Barack Obama unopposed in tomorrow’s primary, this is a state he won by 26 points four years ago.

From this I draw the following conclusions:

  • The Obama campaign is confident they will raise enough money to sustain a massive field operation this fall.
  •

  • Someone at the top of the Obama campaign has fully absorbed the maxim:  “All organizing is reorganizing,” and the “reorganizing” for the fall campaign is well underway.
  •

  • Any “enthusiasm gap” that existed a year ago is, if not gone, disappearing rapidly.  (Campaigns suffering an enthusiasm gap don’t have volunteers to spare on “meaningless” tasks like voter turnout for uncontested primaries.)
