It’s CabinBoytheYounger’s 17th birthday today. I also had the sad news yesterday that my 101 year-old grandmother passed away. She was born during President Taft’s administration. We once visited the Constitution Center in Philadelphia together and I asked her who should thought the best president had been during her lifetime. She said it was Dwight D. Eisenhower. I was surprised because she wasn’t a Republican as far as I knew. But I had to respect her opinion. She had seen a lot of presidents and most of them had been crap. She was one of the finest people I’ve ever met and I’ll miss her.
I’ve been running around this morning wrapping birthday gifts and making plane reservations. We also have a problem with our electric fence to figure out. So, I haven’t had much time to spend on the intertubz.
I have a conference call and a doctor’s appointment this afternoon, and then a birthday dinner to attend, so light blogging looks to be in my future.
What are y’all doing this weekend?
Happy travels to your grandmother, BooMan, and best of thoughts to you and yours.
I wish we made Republicans like Ike these days. Imagine what the Breitbart B team would do to him if he were around today. It’s nauseating to contemplate, really.
thanks.
If Ike were president today, the McCarthyites would be ten times as strong. Wait? Obama’s president and that’s still true.
Condolences on your cool grandmother.
Electric fence? You have livestock??
thank you.
No, dogs and streets.
So sorry about your grandmother. Still recall the day I lost mine; it was like time stood still. Couldn’t believe the birds were still singing. She had always been there, such a central part of my life. How could she be gone? But so many good memories remain.
I’m sorry to hear about your grandmother, Boo. And I can understand her liking Ike — but what did she have against FDR?
