My oh my. It must be time for the pollsters to stop bullshitting us and to begin making accurate predictions. Fifteen swing state polls released and Romney isn’t ahead in any of them. Five tracking polls released and Romney isn’t ahead in any of them. Are all the late deciders going for the president despite Romney and the Super PACs bombarding us with their advertising?
I am sure it is just a coincidence that the polls are only beginning to discover that no one likes Mitt Romney on the last weekend of the campaign. His campaign should have collapsed a month ago, but it was kept on oxygen by unprincipled pollsters and a dying media desperate for eyeballs.
But now it’s ‘cover your ass’ time. This crap is probably going to cost us control of the House of Representatives. I can only imagine how badly the Republicans would lose if they didn’t have unlimited and unaccountable corporate cash to throw at us and they didn’t have Fox News and hate radio to toxify half the country’s neurons.
I am so goddamned sick of this shit.
To be fair to the tracking polls not authored by Rasputen … I mean, Rasmussen … there has been a mild but steady trend toward Obama since the Biden debate. Rasputen says the swing has been 4 points in a few days … yeah, right.
Gallup continues to not publish daily results on the now extremely weak pretense of Sandy, despite every other polling firm continuing through the week. I think given their extracurricular activities this year with wingnuttia that their wingnut CEO’s “judgement call” to suspend polling is likely influenced by hope that the aggregators will keep Gallstone’s last R+% poll in their averages as long as possible. Do expect an O+1 poll by election day.
Yes, sick of it. I’m becoming a conspiracy theorist. To my mind the poster children of this whole sordid mess are Matalin and Carville, one repugnant, the other so called Democrat, husband and wife, wallowing in pillow talk, appearing together on talk shows sticking their their cute marital shtick of the battle of the sexes in every one’s face, stiring a toxic brew of look we’re all the same but you’re different. The next candidate for the award is Mrs. Greenspan. Such people are the public faces of the propaganda machine of the mass media. Am I paranoid or what? The celebrity of cult has screwed us royally starting with Lucille Ball, goint up to Ann Coulter.
Wow. I just never saw the Lucille Ball angle coming.
Nobody sees the Lucille Ball coming…
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AIPb1OMTZ0Q
what is wrong with Lucille Ball?
I’m with you on the Carville angle.
Whenever I hear wingnuts complain about the Democratic Party’s (sorry, “Democrat Party”) lack of civility they ALWAYS start with Carville.
Look, I know Clinton felt Carville was a huge boon to his campaign. I know Carville is credited with focusing the 1992 campaign with his “It’s the Economy, Stupid” slogan. I’m also aware that he’s not one of those guys who falls into the trap of criticizing his party and getting quoted on it later.
But, hell, he married Matalin and STAYED with her. There is no GOP troll more intolerable to listen to than Matalin, and that includes Coulter, McConnell, and Hannity. The fact that they’ve stayed together that long suggests that what he values is being a partisan, not the principles of his party (as I suspect is the same for Matalin). And that’s why I have no qualms with dumping him.
…separate those rich men abd PACs from more of their money.
May that was teh true subtext of Saint Ronnie’s ‘trickle-down’ The Rich grab as much as their greedy little hands can handle, while the rest of us figure out novel ways of relieving them of all that cash.
—but yeah, I don’t even turn on my TV right now…
I’ve almost grown accustomed to the sight of a poll showing a 10 point difference where that’s called up for grabs.
But what does Wolf Blitzer say? Seriously. An Obama +4 poll, and Blitzer goes, “So I guess that race is all tied up and who knows what could happen!”
I’ll never forget invasion night on Gulf War 1 in 1991. Werewolf Blitzer, as excited as it is possible to be on camera, happily announcing that the Republican Guard had been “decimated” along with about a dozen other implausible conclusions.
Mr. Blitzer is a very skilled TV news person who does not tolerate right wing extremism but who, being in the Millionaire Pundits Club, prefers the right wing world view. Translate: he likes low taxes and policies that favor the rich, but not so keen on the social shit that the GOP has to peddle to get the votes of the dumbshits. He’s also got a history in the Israeli military, which gives him an unusually high comfort level with CERTAIN right wing extremists.
Watch him closely. He disguises it well (much better than John King, but not as well as Brian Williams) but he clearly favors the GOP.
Rmoney’s “closing argument” (barf) is that he has to be elected cuz the obstructionist Repub House will not raise the debt ceiling for a hated Dem prez. And cuz the Repub House will pig-headedly drive the economy off the fiscal cliff (that they created) unless voters give them Rmoney as Grayt Leeder.
Or, of course, voters could get half a clue and vote out the Repub turds who make up the treasonous Do-Nothing Repub House. That would work, too!
Perhaps someone might want to point out to voters that the worthless, obstructionist Repub House is up for election, too. It’s not an irremovable feature of our gub’mint! Incredible, but true!
I would like Obama to declare that the debt ceiling has no legal effect (which it arguably does not – the spending has already been authorized) and call the Republicans’ bluff. What are they going to do, go to court and try to destroy the economy? They never do their worst in public view.
That would be an interesting play. No doubt the GOP would appeal to the SCOTUS, but would they take it up? Taking it up means that they would have to make a Constitution decision which would be either: a) put the government into absolute chaos or b) piss off their GOP benefactors who legally bribe the Scalito 5 with bullshit like exhorbitant “speaking fees”. (a) might work if Obama had to run for re-election, but for term 2 only the GOP house would pay the price. Hmmm.
Alas, the chance of Obama doing that is nil.
dick morris is troubled:
I don’t know where this certitude the House was flipping came from.
The House flipping was never not a longshot. I never saw odds of better than 1 in 3 anywhere, usually less, sometimes half that, except a couple weeks in March.
I will take immense solace if we win the Indiana Senate seat.
First, it will delight Doghouse Riley no end (in fact, I’m going there right now).
Second, it will kick the Tea Party in the nuts so hard they might not recover. They will have thrown away a safe republican seat with a lot of seniority.
Third, Fox will have to figure out how to type (D-IN).
They had practice with Evan Bayh.
Yeah, I’m happy about the seat, but not a whole lot else with this guy. Another Evan.
I’m hard-pressed to think of a single area where Donnelly is better than Bayh.
