On October 23rd, 2010, Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell said that “the single most important thing we [the Republicans] want to achieve is for President Obama to be a one-term president.” No one was surprised since McConnell had just shattered all records for filibustering and obstructing over the first two years of the president’s first term in office. Yet, I read this in today’s edition of The Hill:
McConnell has had a cool relationship with Obama and marveled at times that the president has not done more to engage with him.
It makes me want to put my head through a wall.
The term “insightful” is not one generally associated with the current GOP.
Kudos to Obama for not wasting his time.
I laughed out loud at the absurdity of McConnell’s comment.
Upon further consideration, what makes me want to scream is that so-called journalists just report this stuff without providing any context.
I want to say they are idiots, but they are worse than idiots.
Yes, worse than idiots — perfectly intelligent people pretending to be idiots to protect themselves from accusations of bias. If your job is to expose truth and you place your own interests ahead of that duty, you’re not a professional and certainly not a journalist but rather a whore. And they have nothing good to say about bloggers because people like Booman expose them for their uselessness.
“so-called journalists” depress the hell out of me.
Yeah, I think McConnell is just playing the reporters. It’s typical Repub-speak – do everything they can to obstruct, refuse all offers, and then whine Democrats aren’t bipartisan enough. They know the score, they’re just playing reporters who want to write “both sides do it” or “can’ they just get along” fluff.
Yes, worse than idiots, they are willing tools. I wouldn’t call them whores because prostitutes at least perform a service.
Any national political story that doesn’t begin with the essential context that republicans very publicly planned to obstruct anything President Obama did is journalistic malpractice.
Which means pretty much every story written about negotiations between Repubs and Dems has been journalistic malpractice.
Yes, we all know how uppity those, um, Democrats can be.

Not to advocate violence, but it seems it might be more productive to put McConnell’s head through a wall.
advocate, advocate!!
