   But they had become exasperated with Lew, who, in their view, talked a lot but offered few concessions. Lew, whose detailed knowledge of the budget outpaced anyone else’s in the room, always seemed to have a better idea than whatever Boehner was proposing, and these ideas seemed to Boehner like more complicated ways of describing positions they had already rejected. The problem with Lew, Boehner bluntly told the president when he called, is that he just didn’t know how to get to “yes.”

   There actually is a guy in the administration that lmows how to negotiate? How’d he sneak in. And a non-banker? I wonder how much AIG’s threat to sue the hand that fed it factored into that.

     He did work for CitiGroup for a couple of years, but he’s not a career banker.

       In my experience there are no career bankers at Citigroup 🙂

     Boehners real problem with Lew is any time after lunch he has to look at Lew’s signature, he cannot get to the end with out passing out from the dizzies, and still thinks it’s the handwriting and not the 14 extra drinks he has for lunch.

   Just wanted to warn everyone about the ad for mortgage refi that appears below this story.  At the end of the ad, they not only want to know your name, address, phone number, employer and bank but they want your SSN as well. Probably a con for identity thieves.  There is no valid reason for your SSN just to give you a quote.

     Google serves everyone different ads.  So most people are not going to see the ad you are referring to.

        Oh,I’ll bet they are worried.

   Republicans and people working on Wall Street have also been concerned about Lew’s lack of business and financial markets experience.

         No old cronie, as in  Timothy Geitner, at the head of treasury. Thats all I need to hear Lew has my support.

   This is just one instance of yet another stupid bit that was written into the Constitution and consigns us to pointless bickering over nothing. A president should be able to appoint his/her cabinet without interference, and take full responsibility for the results. There’s no rational reason for this provision, but the Founders made sure to keep us under their dictates forever. Like I keep saying, time for a Constitutional Convention.

   As to the GOP leadership not liking Lew for being smarter than them, is it Constitutional to name a goldfish to Treasury?
