The only thing to do, I guess, is invite Karen Tumulty and Phil Rucker over to the White House for dinner. I figure that if the president does that once, he won’t have to read about how insular he is anymore in the Washington Post.
The funny thing is that I don’t remember President Bush having a bunch of people over for dinner all the time. I remember Bush spending almost half his time on the ranch or at Camp David. He left Washington constantly, and he stayed away for long periods of time. When he was in Washington, I can’t remember him having Democratic senators over to the White House to shoot the shit.
Am I wrong about this?
you know…tired of these articles.
fuck these mofos.
do your damn jobs.
it’s not the President’s job to entertain you.
Yeah, but…
He wasn’t really the preznit, Booman. Cheney was. Plus…Cheney couldn’t have people over for dinner unless they were vampires like him. Unless of course he wuz gonna eat ’em up real good.
So it went.
AG
He’s aloof and arrogant – won’t lower himself to meet with people (or play golf with ’em – oh wait a sec).
Just like Hillary is cold and ambitious …
Same old.
But Bush let the press see him ride around in a golf cart, fall off his bike at his ranch, fall off a Segway at Daddy’s place, give McCain a melted birthday cake and receive a guitar a country singer while New Orleans was drowning, walk off a stage into a closet, … Oh, and read “The Pet Goat” to second graders while hijacked planes were crashing into buildings — because you know that’s how he “kept America safe.” The press just loved the guy.
Well that’s on accounta Junior was comfortable in his own skin. Unlike that phoney know-it-all Al Gore and Slick Willie, the weasel who conspired to murder Vince Foster.
Of all Shrub’s mishaps, probably caused from working too hard trying to keep America safe, I think I liked his trying to open the locked door in China the best. Priceless reaction. A natural comedian.
GWB was CELEBRATED for his refusal to schmooze, his insistence on leaving festivities early, his getting up early (not to read the PDB but to work out on the exercycle)… Obama once again busted for being AWB (Arrogant While Black).
He had an all-weather excuse. 9/11. And then Iraq.
Hahaha! The unbearable lightness of Buffy.
No matter what Obama does, the right will lambast him for it.
If he invites them over for dinner, they’ll criticize him because it’s a waste of tax payers’ money.
My only favorite moment, out of the many, many horrors that man and his evil cabal loosed onto this country and the world, was when Karl Rove said that he and W were having a competition to see who could read the most books.
ROFLMAO!!!
I always figure he meant, color the most books.
And no, W didn’t have a lot of folks over.
Remember, he was kind of famous for going to bed early.
I guess doing all of that Preznitin’ plum tuckered the poor man-child out.
When Bush had a state dinner, everyone showed up. When Bush signed legislation, everyone involved showed up for the photo op. When Bush gave his State of the Union speech, no one yelled “You Lie”.
President Obama wined and dined a crowd of Village reporters and pundits at the White House shortly after he was sworn in.
How’d that work out for him?
All I know is that Bush promoted the policies of his base, while Obama is promoting the policies of Bush’s base too.
I’m waiting for someone to promote the interests of the American worker.
repealing DADT, overturning DOMA, supporting Gay Marriage, first to appoint openly gay federal judges, Lilly Ledbetter, nuclear arms reduction, rescuing the Auto industry, Mathew Sheppard act, preventing a 2nd Great Depression, regulating tobacco, pulling 150,000 soldiers out Iraq, stem cell research, fully funding SCHiP, eliminated the private lender student loan racket, increasing Pell grants by 70 billion, reauthorizing and expanding the Violence Against Women’s Act, increasing the fuel efficiency stds to 55 mpg, 90 billion in green energy subsidies, doubled wind power, increased solar power 6 fold, created a DARPA department for green energy-EARPA, regulated mercury and carbon emissions for the first time, kept the US out of Syria, rebuilt FEMA, didn’t fuck up any response to natural disasters, and the list goes on, and on, and on. Fighting for gun control is now part of the Bush base? How blind with hatred can you be?.
on american workers, why even the liberal Leo Gerard, head of the United Steel Workers said, “Ed, that I want to reiterate your point, that no one has stood tougher against China than President Obama and his administration. For every case we have brought, they have stood right by us and brought it forward. If you really want to see someone that knows what they`re doing and stood up to the Chinese, look at what President Obama has done. We have brought 24 cases and we have won every one.” http://www.nbcnews.com/id/46253914/ns/msnbc-the_ed_show/#.UZAd_krNQsY
but you ‘baggers keep fucking that chicken showing how stoopid you are, we need the laughs.
It’s always the people furthest out on the single-digit fringe who think the world can meaningfully be divided into “me” and “everyone else.” The same thought process behind your comment explains why libertarians think that “statist” (anyone who isn’t a libertarian, as well as those so-called-libertarians who are total sellouts, man) is a meaningful political category.
It probably has something to do with perspective. If you are a mile away, two people 100 feet apart might well look like they are close to each other.
