I want to offer my sincere gratitude to the (so far) twenty-four people who have made online contributions today, the others who have made recent contributions, and the many people who wrote to inquire about donating or offering advice and sketching out opportunities. All of you are extremely caring and generous, and I thank you sincerely from the bottom of my heart.
I’ve either been offline most of the day or grappling with computer issues, and I’m going to be offline for the early part of this evening, too. So, I wanted to make sure to let people know that I’ll try to respond to comments and emails as soon as I can.
Hey sorry about all your bad news. Been offline a lot lately. Hang in there.
Steve
Hey, just added something to the tip jar. I wish I could do more. Hang in there, okay?
BooMan, let me know if you want the powerbook. I hope that everything works out.
I really appreciate the offer, Boran. I have a gig with Washington Monthly coming up and I had to pull the trigger. I got a refurbished MacBook, since that was all I could afford. After spending a long day upgrading it, it’s pretty nice. Maybe we will stop losing all our baby pictures now.
Thanks, again.
Congratulations on the Washington Monthly gig, and good luck with the new laptop.
Where in the country are you? I’m pretty new (Atrios!) but I don’t see a location. Philly perhaps?
California would be great, Bay Area better, so I can offer some help in the hardware dept. Both technical- and plumbing-wise.
I remember well when Mrs. ID and I both had to have surgeries the same summer 10 years ago and had to borrow a lot to pay the copays. We still have a home equity loan hanging over us from that. Feeling your pain and sending a bit of painkiller via the Donate button. Hope it helps.
Just chipped in what I could. Good luck working your way through these various challenges.
I’m a little embarrassed to admit, when I saw the dental bill figure I immediately thought, man, no WAY anything I give is gonna make a dent in that…but logic reasserted itself and I threw a couple bucks at the frogs.
Incidentally, next time you’re looking at a dental tab of more than about $2000, I seriously recommend researching a quick trip to Thailand or some other medical tourism destination. Obviously that doesn’t help in an emergency situation, but it can prevent a known problem from worsening to an emergency down the road.
Good luck with the computer thing. I just went through all that a few months ago.
Wow. There are now at least 86 donors over the last two days. Thank you, folks. You are a real life line. We appreciate you so much. Sincerely!!
Sorry to be late with this donation and wish it could be more. We love you in Pittsburgh, too, and hope your troubles will end with the end of summer this week.
