I doubt that Sen. Max Baucus (D-MT) and Rep. Dave Camp (R-MI) can hash out a Tax Reform bill in any case, but it’s instructive to see how and why big business always comes out on top in these discussions. After Baucus floated some proposals this week, the business lobbies woke up in a big way.
“It’s no longer theoretical and no longer just the purview of the committees,” said Jade West, senior vice president of government relations for the National Association of Wholesaler-Distributors (NAW). “There’s a long recess in December, and I expect our members will be talking to their lawmakers in their district offices.”
How many middle class folks do you think will be visiting their member’s district office over the holidays to advocate for provisions of tax law?
For people who supposedly are all about community organizing, all I ever hear is endless bitching about groups that actually take organizing seriously and take responsible and concerted measures to defend their interests.
Damn these businesses! Why can’t they just put all their money in a big pile and light it on fire?! Or donate it all to the poor?! Why don’t they cut out their tongues and let the taxman pick their bones clean?!
How very un-Marxist of them. The nerve.
Moreover, how many of them would get an audience with their Representative if they did visit?
Well now I’m going to.
How many middle class folks do you think will be granted an appointment even if they called? Unless they had a problem for “constituent services”.
Hopefully they will discuss HR25(The FairTax Bill). I believe corporations shouldn’t be taxed for at least three reasons.
Wonder if Congressman Bridenstine’s proposed bill from November 18th is getting any interest around the beltway and nation.
OT, but not much, really, since we’re all taking about the subject of economic inequality:
http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/news/ashton-kutcher-engages-twitter-debate-658380
“(Ashton) Kutcher started the feud Tuesday after noticing a news item about a Canton, Ohio, Walmart that was holding a food drive for its workers who can’t afford a nice Thanksgiving dinner.
“Walmart is your profit margin so important you can’t Pay Your Employees enough to be above the poverty line?” Kutcher tweeted.”
Oh, dear, what will Rush Limbaugh and Ted Cruz say? Ashton was their New Hollywood Man Of Conservative Values just 15 minutes ago. How the mighty have fallen. Because we know that conservatism dictates that a large family of mulitbillionnaires needs the FREEDOM!!1!1! to pay their employees poverty wages.
