I was listening to this at JFK Stadium in 1981. We were wondering even then how long the Stones were going to be touring and playing. It was only 33 years ago.
When this song was current, I was working at CITR in Vancouver Canada, and we did a parody of this song called “Prop Me Up,” riffing on the ancientness of Jagger et al. At the time, a rock star over the age of 40 was well nigh unthinkable.
More recently, though, I’ll never be able to think of this song without recalling that it was the adopted theme song of Joe Lieberman’s abortive 2004 presidential campaign. It was just like Clueless Joe to embrace, as his theme song, a little ditty about a guy with an unending erection.
Love the Stones, but the misogyny of some of his lyrics can be hard to take. And then there’s “Brown Sugar”: A great riff married to pretty much unforgivable lyrics about raping your black slave girl.
I’m listening to Radical Face and their latest release, the Family Tree: The Branches. Ben Cooper is a great singer/storyteller and his songs are beautiful.
Holy Branches is a Youtube official video of the song.

This should be the opening song the next time they do a series of concerts at senior’s centers across the world:
“The Steel Defibrillator Tour.”
I’ve been searching for this album for days. Gosh, hope I didn’t lose it!
Lately I’m nostalgic for the days when every tune didn’t have to be under 8 minutes for commercial purposes. Rike Wakeman, Autobahn, EL$P, etc…
This is pretty Deee-liteful, with extra Bootsy:
Miss Lady Kier was an extremely entertaining front for the band. Some pretty great dancing happening here:
