   One rocket caused this:

   ransportation Minister Israel Katz on Wednesday instructed the relevant agencies to immediately open the Uvda airport, the country’s second terminus for air traffic which lies just north of Eilat, in the wake of the spate of flight cancellations announced by major foreign airlines.

   Katz convened a meeting of senior civilian aviation officials who recommended that the Uvda airport be utilized to replace Ben-Gurion Airport.

   El Al says there is ‘no chance’ it will cancel flights to, from Israel
   Speaking to reporters at Ben-Gurion Airport, Katz said that Uvda would begin operating at noon local time. The minister said that efforts are also being made to provide service to some 4,000 Israelis who were left stranded in Istanbul after their airlines refused to fly into Lod in light of the FAA ban announced on Tuesday.

   Katz said that his ministry had urged Turkish aviation officials to transport the Israelis back home, but that the Turks are hesitant to land their aircraft in Uvda.

   Air travel to Israel from all American carriers and several European ones came to a halt on Tuesday after the Federal Aviation Authority banned US airlines from traveling to and from Ben-Gurion Airport for 24 hours.

   Yes, indeed.  It’s totally unfair to have one’s illegal collective blockade and concentration camp administration harm tourist season!

   Military operations, rockets, commercial aviation and “tourist season” don’t mix too well, at least for the rationally minded…

     Very well said my friend.

     I hope it doesn’t happen but just imagine if one of Israel’s planes (or anyone else’s for that matter) were hit flying in or out. Sure, the chance is small. But the scale of the tragedy, were it to happen, might bring down the government. It’s one thing to kill sub-human dark skinned people on the other side of an imaginary line. Quite another to kill citizens and guests of your pathetic excuse for a country.

   Both Michael Bloomberg and El Al are fools.  Bibi has unwittingly created the perfect boycott.

   This is tough because how are they going to make sure that all the foreign journalists can leave immediately if they see anything in Gaza? Although I suppose Israel can arrange for them to leave the country by boat or something.

     Maybe that’s why Bloomberg is flying in, to pick up any reporters that have been recently reassigned or terminated. Hey, that’s just the sort of thing billionaires do for each other.

   Bloomie’s concern:

   Already hurt by mass tourist cancellations, Israel faced increased economic pressure after the U.S. Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) took the rare step on Tuesday of banning flights to Tel Aviv for at least 24 hours.

   Humanitarians concern:

   >Adding to pressure on Israel, U.N. High Commissioner for Human Rights Navi Pillay said on Wednesday there was “a strong possibility” that it was committing war crimes in Gaza, where 645 Palestinians have died in the fighting, mostly civilians.

   They would make nice targets for any terrorists in the area. I wonder if they have even thought of the fact that any terrorist group that can knock them out of the air would become numeral UNO in the MIDDLE EAST.

   Seems to me a crazy stunt to pull.
