I have to laugh at the spectacle of the House Ways & Means Committee chairman releasing emails from Lois Lerner in which she refers to Republicans as “a-holes” and “crazies.” Ms. Lerner, of course, was the director of the Exempt Organizations Unit of the U.S. Internal Revenue Service (IRS). These email revelations may stir up the Republican base, but if you look at everyone’s email, there are approximately 150 million people who have called the GOP a-holes and crazies in this country.
It’s not even an insult. It’s a simple observation, like “it’s raining here.”
So their big smoking gun is “She hurt our pee wings!”???
It was her private email she has a right 1st Amendment to have an opinion.
I wonder if all of the GOP in Congress would care to open their own private emails up, so we can see what type of comments they have made about President Obama and Liberals,Democratic Party members,Progressives or anyone that disagreed with them? You know like the Pope.
How did they get private e-mails? Are we no longer secure in our houses, papers and personal effects from arbitrary search and seizure? OK, I know we are not, 911 changed everything, I hear.
They didn’t. Not sure why so many people here assumed that it was her personal e-mail account. Anyone that doesn’t assume that communications using one’s employer’s equipment aren’t private is naive.
Then she was very foolish to discuss personal things on company (government) e-mail. I also have a government e-mail account. The only “personal” e-mail I have on their is sending official documents (pertaining to me, promotion, leave request etc) to my home e-mail. You just don’t discuss your vacation on your employer’s e-mail. At most you say “Call me”.
Exactly. What I said in my first comment on this thread. But others preferred to indulge in GOP outrage without bothering to check out the facts.
Once again, however, this is irrelevant to the charges Issa has made against Lerner.
Yes and ABC let stand unchallenged a statement by a GOPer that “only conservative groups were targeted, not liberal groups”, which I think is not true based on what I’ve heard on the radio. In any case, how many Liberal groups have “Tea Party” in their name? Why shouldn’t “Tea Party” be a red flag? Wouldn’t a group calling itself “Coalition to re-elect President Obama” and filing for tax exempt status as a non-political group be challenged? I would hope so. At the vary least “Tea Party” or “Regular Democratic Organization” should trigger a look.
Googled and found an NRO report said it was “nonofficial” email and later referred to it as personal email doing government business.

Like I’d believe anything National Review said.
Hey Fox News! You are assholes too! And you didn’t even have to read my e-mails to learn it.
Nope:
Simple rule: if one wouldn’t put it in a formal letter or memo to superiors, colleagues, or subordinates, don’t put it in any work related e-mail or on a work computer.
Sorry, but can’t defend Lerner on this lapse in communication skills. Although that has nothing to do with the subject of this silly investigation into the performance of her unit that appears to have been in order (albeit somewhat lax on rightwing faux non-profits).
I’m reading that this was a personal email account and if that is true then she should have some expectation of privacy to vent her opinions.
Course she could have used Cheney’s example and shouted F***CK YOU like he did at Biden. All in the name of upfrontedness of course.
From Politico:
It would have been much more difficult, if not legally impossible, for the House committee to get access to her personal emails on her personal communication device. Of course Issa could have asked a buddy at the NSA for a copy.
Sorry to spoil the fivolity, but ALEC has created a new monster ACCE.
Conservative group Alec devises offshoot ACCE to lobby at local levels
The John Birch “revolution” continues thanks to the Koch-heads.
Perhaps they should sue Lerner. I suggest their cause of action be “definition of character.”
Good grief, BooMan. I followed your link not realizing it was to Fox Nation. I’ve never visited the site before. Looked at some of the titles and one article. What a bizarre, stupid site that is. It’s so childish, so emotional. There’s nothing to it. It’s like reading something a really snotty 13 yr old wrote. I can’t believe people really read it and believe it.
Except that I live in a red state, have a Bircher brother, RW relatives…blah, blah, blah.
I have a headache now.
Lois Lerner deserves a medal for restraint under extreme duress. She was very restrained. If it was private email I don’t see how it could be made public. If it was public then things like that happen all the time. What are the consequences? Is it illegal? We’ve certainly known GOPers to say worse things than that.
All this stupidity just makes me really, really enjoy the Midterms and working for Democrats. This is definitely not 2010. It’s a whole different ballgame.
