Former Bush speechwriter Marc A. Thiessen really does not like Mitt Romney.
In the 1991 movie “Naked Gun 2 ½,” Police Lt. Frank Drebin drinks away his sorrows in a blues bar while sad music plays and the camera pans across a wall with pictures depicting the worst disasters in history: the Chicago fire . . . the Hindenburg . . . the Titanic . . . and Michael Dukakis.
If they did a remake today, they would replace Dukakis’s picture on the wall with one of another Massachusetts governor: Mitt Romney.
Ramesh Ponnuru feels the same way.
Why so little love for the Mittster. Did he not tell enough lies?
Conservatives never liked the RomBot2012. The national organizations and the Corporate Wing of the GOP pushed him to the nomination.
shhhhhhhhhh
Romney 2016!!!!
yeah, that’s the ticket
#1 – Romneycare
#2 – He really isn’t a true believer on abortion.
#3 – he lost. To Obama and #5.
#4 – Hating on Rmoney keeps them from thinking about Bush Junior who they really should hate much more.
#5 – he didn’t come up with a Sarah Palin on the ticket to feed their fantasies.
#6 – Taxachusetts
#7 – He’s no Dick. Cheney. Too soft on human beings.
Dumb and Dumber indeed. The Villagers will never figure out that we’re not quite as stupid as they want to think we are. Corporate rule has always been a tough sell in the US.
In a way, I’d like to see Mitt nominated by the reps. But then there was a time when I thought Nixon was a guaranteed loser.
Let them keep trying anyway, sad as it is, because I have some kind of twisted faith in the democracy.
Don’t count on it, or count on it continuing.
The fundamental depravity of mankind doesn’t always win, but it reliably covers the point spread on those occasions when it doesn’t win outright.
The forelock-tugging reflex is instinct, and powerful.
I believe Steve Benin recorded over 900 lies in his campaign. He’s still a Mormon Bishop. I guess he told enough for them.
Replace it with Reagan instead, in honor of Labor Day.
Hey, is this the pinyata post for today?
It’s the car elevator. Yep.
With Mitt is was the entire package. The wife, the sons, the multiple daughter in laws…all who were unable to connect with voters. And when it was all over…all of them appears to not know what to do.
They hate Mitt because conservatism cannot fail, so Mitt failed conservatism.
They still can’t understand how they lost. They believed their own propaganda and Rove’s math.
“It must be some traitor’s fault!”
“But who?”
“That Romney! Dolchstoss!”
Everyone hated Rmoney. Everyone. Even the people who voted for him. The polls during primary season show it.
Besides, conservatives know that if they just nominate a real conservative like Ted Cruz, Louie Gohmert, or Sarah Palin, that they’d win in a landslide.
Sure, nominate the guy who could release his tax returns in 2012. Maybe he’ll release them in 2016.
couldn’t
I went to school with Marc. He was widely considered both the stoopudest and most annoying kid in our class.
The trajectory of his assholeness is long and it bends towards douchery.
I know i’m in the minority, but I feel that Romney ran a brilliant race. He figured that from convention to debates was enough time to secure the Teatard vote. Then he pivoted toward the center at the first debate, catching Obama flat-footed and fooling the DC press morons into deciding that he was a moderate.
That’s a tough act to pull off: no wonder all he spoke was lies. But people who care about lies were never going to vote for him anyway.
The rightwing imbeciles (both coaches and cogs) had convinced themselves that Obammy could not possibly win re-election since they hated him so much, and their opinions (as Traditional Americans) were the only ones that mattered.
Yet RMoney lost the unlose-able, demonstrating inconceivable incompetence. Hence the loathing and hatred of Mormon Mitt. It’s just the flip side of their Obama hatred.
I was away from home on Election Night when Obama won and Romney was thumped. Fortunately I was in the company of other Obama supporters and it was a wonderful night.
I’ll always remember how glad I felt, not just because Obama won, but because that phony, emotionless plastic suit stuffed with money didn’t win. Romney is the poster child for what’s wrong in politics today. I hope he never runs again.
I assume Theissen is just doing the Zuckers a solid, because those Naked Gun movies did not age well at all.
