What’s the stupidest thing you saw today?

Can’t say that this is the stupidest thing I saw today, but at the Dish:
http://dish.andrewsullivan.com/2014/11/06/the-republican-landslide-at-the-local-level/
According to Libby Nelson, “Republicans now control state government outright in at least 24 states, one more than they did before the election. They control at least 66 of 99 state legislative chambers nationwide. And they cut the number of states with total Democratic control from 14 to seven — the lowest number since the Civil War. …”
So maybe this election is worse than other midterms in presidents’ second terms (Reagan, Bush, for example).
Way worse. Worse than 2010. The Dems are sucking air because less than 40% of whites vote for them. And young and Hispanic voters are totally undependable. Blacks better but they could improve too. Some base.
Republicans vote every time. And look what happens.
Democrats don’t help when they give their base no reason to support them other than the fact that Republicans suck even more. That turns out committed folks like us but it doesn’t get most of the people we know up off the couch.
Considering the nearly inexhaustible supply of stupid, a better question might be “what rare occassion of nonstupidity did you see today?”
Here ya go: CNN homepage with hardly a whisper of stories about ISIS or Ebola. Not a single scary gigantic headline about how we’re all DOOMED.
But I suspect that’s less nonstupidity and more post-election “My job here is done.”
Doncha know that Republicans can make scary things like Ebola and ISIS disappear just as soon as they’re elected? Republicans are the next best thing to god.
Did you see? Minneapolis now has Pointergate. And the jackass TV reporter that started it all is playing the Teahadist victim thing to the hilt. Check out:

Dude needs to be fired.
That is so far into “making nothing out of nothing” that it should die out quickly after all those with hurt fee-fees get their say. OTOH, my usually reliable barometer of US public responses seems to be on the fritz lately; so, perhaps this latest nothing will feed into all the somethings that people used to rationalize voting for some really nutso people and rejecting the sane and less evil people.
Boehner warning Pres. Obama not to play with matches. I almost smiled, but it came out like a grimace.
Not the stupidest but the most ominous:
Bill Daley jumping ship from the Democratic Party and joining Republican Bruce Rauner’s transition team.
You’ve called for moderate Republicans to change party, maybe the same thing is happening with DINO’s and the Republican Party. Won’t leave many Democrats.
Was it ever a good idea to put Daley on Obama’s team? There are so many people committed to Democratic principles. Why does Obama repeatedly suck up to hacks? Daley is a Clinton retread. Like so many Clinton guys, his allegiances are self serving.
It did remind me of a rat deserting a sinking ship.
The marriage of corrupt city machines and Teaparty rural areas would give the corporatists a total hammerlock on political control unseen since Soviet Russia.
Ron Fournier
some white dude saying “yah republicans are racist, but it’s really democrats’ fault”
The stupidest thing I’ve seen today is a letter to the editor in our local paper. A woman from Beavercreek, Ohio, the rich, 88% white suburb where an innocent black man was gunned down by panicked police in a Walmart, wrote a love note about how wonderful Beavercreek is, how she and her husband moved from a less desirable area to their amazing community.
Never mind that they moved there and built their new house (had money) made friends (all white) and spent their lives in relatively segregated comfort. She wrote that there is a Hindu temple and a Muslim school there! Wow! That’s diversity!
So yeah, the white privilege is strong in this one. And it shows how clueless the majority of people in that area really are. For all her implication that they as a community are loving and embracing all others, they have voted repeatedly as a community to forbid city bus lines to run in their suburb, for fear of a “criminal element” from outside their white borders. Like our friend Crawford in Walmart.
So that’s the most stupid thing so far today.
Do they pay “the help” enough that they can afford cars to get them to work?
David Brooks imaginary political history:
Can anybody tell me on what evidentiary basis he makes that “every party” generalization?
Or that the “Sarah Palin spasm” has abated? (As opposed to mutating into the “Michele Bachman convulsion” and then the “Joni Ernst seizure”?)
Well this is depressing

Another reason why without the “50 state strategy”, Democrats are doomed not to govern.
