On this day in 1966, John Lennon made the fateful decision to attend Yoko Ono’s art exhibition ‘Unfinished Paintings and Objects’ at the Indica Gallery in London. Before long they had become the king and queen of the hippies and in September 1969 John announced he was leaving the Beatles. After he wrote Instant Karma! in January 1970, he got Phil Specter to come out of retirement to produce it in the studio. When it was released as a single ten days later, Yoko had the B Side.

I have barely read any real news in days and it’s both a relief and troubling.
A relief because the litany of bad news is upsetting. Troubling because I need to be informed… but I just can’t. I really can’t. I keep NPR off on my radio except for the odd Car Talk rerun.
