When I was little, my favorite color was yellow. Really, I think it was the yellowish-gold color of the Pittsburgh Steelers. Later on, my favor color became blue, probably because it highlighted my eyes and knocked out the ladies. My youngster’s favorite color is red, which has always been my least favorite color.
Have your tastes in color changed with age?
Did your children also defy your tastes?
Nah, green has always been my go to color. I had to move from New Mexico and San Francisco because it wasn’t green enough.
The countryside is supposed to be green in mid-summer. Not ochre or gold.
So there.
Red. Always red.
Always been partial to blue. Mainly for the same reasons as you cite. When you have blue eyes, your mom will usually dress you up as a child in order to complement them. And I think it often carries over into your formative years. And all it then takes is a girl or two to comment on your eyes, and you are instantly working hard to highlight those baby blues. You learn early on to use everything at your disposal.
I’m an artist, so I love all colors! But my house is decorated mostly in greens and blue-greens and when I choose clothes, I also favor blues and greens.
When my boys were little, one liked blue, one liked green, and the third liked orange. It made it easy to choose their clothes. Niw that they’re grown, I don’t know what they like.
My favorite color used to be red for the simple reason that it was the first one in the alphabet. And also because a red cape made me look like Superman.
I now favor blue, especially darker and more toward the indigo range. And forest green. They both work well with my complexion.
Wow, sleepy typing. I meant to say that red is the first one in the rainbow, not the alphabet.
Strange observation in my business. When Bush I was in office I noticed that contrasting, strong colors were in, when Clinton was in office natural colors were in, then Bush II arrived and things switched to literally black, sometimes with white offsets; with Obama things seem to have become more colorful again, but this time strong colors.
My go to color as always been green, even looks good on my Newfie girl.
I must be color challenged. Not only never had a favorite color but the notion of a personal favorite color totally perplexed me.
ARE you color blind?
I’ve know 6 people who were. 4 of them didn’t realize it until after they were in college. One of them got a PhD in Chemistry … which is really weird because intro chemistry courses use color a lot to distinguish reacting agents.
Not color blind. Might be at the lower end of normal for color perception.
I love color. My very favorites have always been in the blue and purple range. My wife loves similar colors. But my 23 year old son loves very different colors. His favorite is green.
My daughter, somewhere around 6 years old was presented with an elaborate dish of ice cream with cookie crumbles and nuts and candy sprinkles.
Daughter: “Can I have chocolate sauce?”
Me: “Chocolate sauce on top of all that? That’s guilding the lily, don’t you think?”
Daughter: “I like guilding.”
My kid likes K-Pop.
I am a female born in the early 1950’s and still prefer pink/rose/purple. However, I decorate in neutrals.
My favorite color has always been Royal Blue and other shades of blue. I like all bright colors and can wear most colors well except yellow and orange. I hate green, especially puky green. Kelly green or forest green are the only acceptable colors of green in my book.
I’ve preferred green and blue as long as I can remember. Just within the last two years, I saw a pink painting I loved, and since then I’ve liked pink. I still feel a little odd when I see something pink and like it.
I have always been fond of 2 colors: burnt sienna (a rusty reddishbrown toward the burgundy range) and blue.
