After a long day working on the Washington Monthly College Guide, I am bone-tired. But this just makes me exhausted. I don’t know if people are aware of how draining it is to be surrounded by a political process that is this deliberately dishonest and stupid.

Yes Booman and more and more Americans are feeling the same way as you. If this keeps up their could be an awakening big enough to cause action to occur. What kind of action, we will have to see.
Mendacious claims and misrepresentations are part and parcel of the Republican brand as it now exists. This is obvious to anyone paying attention. If I focus on specific examples, I get aggravated. Instead, I try to channel my energy into useful endeavors such as helping more and better Democrats get elected. I also work hard not to lose heart or hope because then I become part of the problem, a festering pit of despair and hopelessness. This is exactly what Republicans want. Don’t talk to me about “permagov” or rattle on that both parties are the same. If you’re not part of the solution, you’re part of the problem.
If we keep our eye on the long term picture, things don’t look nearly so bad. The old people who disproportionately support the hateful ignorant worldview are dying off. California is one again harbinger of things to come and the politics of that state are looking so much better than not-all-that-long-ago.
Fiorina didn’t deserve to be a janitor at H-P. I’d rather see Trump as President than her. Luckily, Republican voters like their female candidates to be bimbos, and Fiorina strikes out there too.
Thanks to whatever gods may be that she’s not really Italian.
I feel ya. After a decade of full-time local and national paid reporting and punditry, a fair amount of it pretty high profile, I got out. I’ve never regretted it. The relentless tsunami of grim news and mendacious public officials – and the idiots who trust them anyway – is an emotional and eventually physical grind. Being immersed in it 24/7 is a rush, but if you have two brain cells to rub together and are inclined to use them, it takes quite a toll. too. And I got out in 2007 – it’s exponentially worse now.
Of course, I still have my hand in plenty of stressful things, in media, politics, and now as a legislative aide as well. But it’s mostly behind the scenes, helping-get-things-done stuff. I’m fine with that. It help relieve that constant burning sensation from exposure to The Stupid…
I’m surprised she didn’t use the Ted Cruz “Global temperatures have not risen in 15 years.” crap.
No chart is without spikes 1998 was ungodly hot so if temperatures in the next decade did not reach that point he claims temperatures have not risen. Even though every year after was progressively hotter then 1997. I believe we are hotter the last couple years then in 1998 but its just another example.
Ted the wacko was being deliberately misleading exactly like Fiorina in the link provided.
My question is why? Why lie about something that is so destructive. Are they building an Elysium and plan on leaving the planet? Are they suicidal? Climate change will not benefit anyone. It has and will kill more and more people.
Climate change will not benefit anyone.
For them it’s like capitalism. Even in the worst of all crashes, some don’t fare badly at all. Not so bad, many do extremely well. They expect to be the climate change winners and think that “thinning the herd” would benefit them as well.
Cold ass sociopathic shit. Sick stupid freaks.
FDR, who was a rich man, is spinning in his grave.
An authentic progressive era (more Republican than Democratic) preceded the Roaring Twenties and the subsequent Great Depression. Eleanor, more so than Franklin, and many of his closest advisers had deep roots in progressivism. There seems not to be any progressive/socialist roots today among the super wealthy that self-identify as Democrats or liberals. They’re steeped in mid-20th century anti-communism (and label the alternative as democracy) and pro-Israel with a passing nod to US civil rights.
Weird that this is the best woman the GOP has to offer for the 2016 presidential race. She’s like Bachmann without charisma, attractiveness, and a track record of winning elections.
I’m sure she does fine at dinner parties w the billionaire class; I think that’s all the puppetmasters look for (or expect) in a female candidate, esp since they’re probably running her for vp
Apparently only two billionaires on her roster and only one that has given >$1 million to her super pac. The Hollywood guy that made a bundle off Univision.
well, in the long run it probably helps here with the billionaire class that she totally failed as a ceo
They tend to prefer winners or CEO failures that enrich them. Guess if she was giving tips to one or more big investors to short HP, she’d be in their good graces.
Otherwise, have difficulty imagining why any bigshots would enjoy having her at their dinner tables. All of the billionaire class “trophy” wives are far easier on the eyes and most are smart and highly educated as well.
disagree that it’s about stupid; I think it’s lack of education and critical thinking, it’s the desired result of sustained attack on educational system; restoring public education is a first step
