Do you feel that this presidential election season needs considerably more cowbell?

…so, you know, maybe not.
I say we need more vuvuzelas.
I feel that this one has started way to early.I would like to see that a law be passed that campaigning can only start in February of the voting year. Maybe just maybe so many would not feel burned out then.
agree.
For just a split second there I thought you were talking about the Sacramento Kings. I’m more excited about their season right now than I am about the presidential election. I agree with Raypc800 that it’s still too early for that.
And my other complaint is that the focus on presidential politics tends to obscure the fact that the congressional elections are at least as important.
We need Jon Stewart back.
Trump thinks this election needs more cowbell.
I disagree. It has more than enough and Trump is just one of many cowbells in the campaign.
have no idea what that means
It means “Go Royals”.

Something that may be a pleasant accent in moderation, but overpowering and ridiculously annoying in larger amounts, leading to extreme reactions.
You should have no problem finding the link to the original SNL skit.
I have a sickness. A disease. And there’s only one cure.
There can never be ‘enough’ cow bell. “Peak” cow bell is obviously a hoax.
It DOES somewhat remind me of an Ole Miss vs Miss St football game. Always a great game, really exciting, usually pretty close score, Confederate Flags, Colonel Rebel, cowbells, goats … and means absolutely nothing to the national standings.
Yup. pretty close.
I say we convert to the British system where snap elections can be called at any time. That gives a 6 week window before the election for campaigning. This 2-year process is just soul-destroying.
Campaigning for the presidency has become a kind of profession, see Ms. HRC.
Best grift in the world. Just ask Huck.
Well that would give folks a chance to look at the other end of the livestock.
Cowbell!!!???
I got yer “cowbell,” right here!!!
Watch…listen to…what happens when Johnny “Dandy” Rodriguez switches from bongos to cowbell at about 3:50 of this vid.
Johnny was the rock of Tito Puente’s rhythm section for 25+ years…the greatest cowbell player i have ever heard. He lifts 20+-piece orchestras out of their groove and onto another plane every time he picks up his bell. been there. experienced that for 30+ years, myself. A miracle, really. The miracle of real concentration.
If only we had someone like that running for president!!!
Sigh.
Later…
AG
wow awesome link – thanks
maybe, perhaps…this AG fellow knows his shit. will have to start paying attention.
Believe me…i do “know my shit,” SirLurksAlot.
40+ years playing w/the best of the best in NYC. I use a webname to at least partially remove my socio-political life from my musical one…gotta make a living, don’tcha know…but Booman has some idea of who I’ve played with.
And which levels of society I have plumbed as well.
I testify to the real deal here.
Bet on it.
AG
solid – sorry if I came off sounding too snarky. as a amateur jazz bass player I can sort of maybe begin to appreciate some of the things you’ve seen and helped create over the years. you have got my attention.
I don’t post a great deal about music here. But…”As above, so below” according to the Sufis. i am not sure whether politics is above or below art in this particular equation, but the tendencies hold true no matter what’s on top. The real deal creates swing…”truth” as Gandhi would have it…and the jiveass shit produces…more jiveass shit.
So it goes, throughout history.
Get on the good foot and all goes well.
Get off of it?
UH oh!!!
We been off of it since at least the JFK assassination.
Them on-the-bad-foot chickens be flyin’ home now.
Flyin’ home to roost, as Malcolm X said.
Bet on it.

I have learned here over the years that when it comes to talking jazz, AG is da’man. I have almost no doubt that during my travels hitting all the jazz clubs I could around NYC back 25 years ago, or so, that I probably saw and heard AG. At that point in my life I was soaking up jazz like a religion. One of the highlights of my life was that NYC jazz experience.
i knew there were some big fish in the frog pond which is why i have mostly just shut up and listened this past decade. nyc players are way outta my league, but it’s nice to chat. will try not to be too newbalicious in my commenting.
Don’t be afraid to comment here. Over my years at this place I have learned more than I could have ever imagined from a whole bunch of people I have never met face to face. They have helped me sort out my political thoughts and arguments, and if I had not found this place I probably wouldn’t have ever had the courage to get personally involved in politics.
This place is a gem. And the people, by and large, are wonderful. There is a wide range of opinions, which makes for interesting conversation.
No, it needs more comic book campaigns.
My first comment on the GOP poll leader since June has been that Trump is Penguin for President.
I feel it should be shorter. 6 months long, max.
Hindustan Times Communist leader Bidhya Bhandari elected Nepal’s first woman President
At least one woman political leader that’s not messing around with all that neo-liberalcon garbage masquerading as socialism. Let’s start with communism and allow private operations as needed.
If we´re looking to the writers of Satruday Night Live to give us a metaphor for the 2016 campaign, I´ve been thinking of the GOP POTUS debates as one long episode of ¨¿Quién es más macho?¨.
