Hello again painting fans.
This week I will be continuing with the Victorian mansion. I am using the photo seen directly below. I’ll be using my usual acrylic paints on an 5×7 inch canvas.
When last seen, the painting appeared as it does directly below.
Since that time I have continued to work on the painting.
Starting in the foreground, I’ve begun the curved driveway. Just above, I’ve also added paint to the foundation. The foundation will eventually receive shadows that mirror the structure above. On the house itself I’ve begun to refine the various elements. Note that the existing windows have been reshaped and a few new ones have been added. (By the front door and to the far right.) The white portions of the house have all been refined a bit. Finally the roof has received more paint. The color of the roof, foundation and driveway are all very closely related.
The current state of the painting is seen in the photo directly below.
I’ll have more progress to show you next week. See you then.
Earlier paintings in this series can be seen here.
The cafe is open.
I could use a good espresso.
Make it 2.
I am now on month three of an extended period of less than adequate sleep. Maybe sometime next month I can start catching a couple zzzz’s here and there.
I just don’t learn. I really need to stay out of those useless dkos shit stirring posts. All reason has gone out the window. Sigh.
I guess I missed it. I haven’t logged on to my account in years, although I do peruse the pundits roundup and such with morning coffee. Lost patience with the place as far as engaging others about the time the “pie fight” happened.
Okay. Got a bit of a look-see. Wow. I don’t think the commenters are doing their preferred candidate any favors. No real excuse for their venom. May be an explanation, and I suspect that has something to do with some tangible fear and angst that I think quite a number of us here and across the Atlantic are feeling with the rise of right-wing nationalism. Heck, I’m spooked by the rise of Trump here (not to mention what I see going on in Europe and in South America) – spooked enough to consider casting a vote for HRC defendable if not necessarily for positive reasons. Normally I try to keep political stuff out of your painting diaries, but it does seem appropriate given the context. I wish enough calm could prevail to allow constructive dialog rather than what I’ve seen as of late (my twitter and Facebook feeds are a cesspool as well). I hold no hope out for shit-stirrers of course – those have existed since long before the Internet tubes were invented by Al Gore, and are notoriously incorrigible.
It is ugly out there. I’m used to at least some pot stirring from the rank and file but not from the proprietor. He’s going out of his way to drive Bernie folks from the site.
That’s a real shame. The proprietor at the Great Orange Satan would be wise to remember that his favored candidate and almost certain Democratic nominee will need as many Sanders supporters as possible. If nothing else, if the fine folks at that site can manage to not completely alienate Sanders’ considerable base of support, they can do what is needed to inform them of the importance of strategic voting this election, and the importance of those down ballot elections – especially the more local ones like the state legislators (depending on the state and the district there may be some fairly important and competitive races), city and town councils and school boards, etc. that really affect day to day life.
Alienate too many of Sanders’ supporters (I actually started voting on the Democratic ballot specifically because of Sanders’ presence this year), and we might as well get used to our new national slogan: “Ein Volk, Ein Reich, Ein Combover!”
