Hello again painting fans.
This week I will be continuing with the painting of the Second Empire Victorian. I am using the photo seen directly below. I’ll be using my usual acrylic paints on a 6×6 inch canvas.
When last seen, the painting appeared as it does in the photo directly below.
Since that time I have continued to work on the painting.
I continued by applying thin layers of paint to the various elements of the painting. The sky and grass have received blue and green respectively. On the structure, I’ve added some thin initial layers that begin to indicate shadow and light. The lit portions are yellowish and the shadow indicated by blue. I like to delineate things and see how they look. All is well so far.
The current state of the painting is seen in the photo directly below.
I’ll have more progress to show you next week. See you then.
Earlier paintings in this series can be seen here.
The cafe is open.
but nobody showed up…no fault of yours b2.
methinks the atmosphere around the pond has become somewhat toxic of late.
really unfortunate, l’m sorry to say…really miss the sense of camaraderie that used to exist here.
I think we sort of mill in at our own leisurely pace these days. Always glad B2 can share something positive. So much destruction. It’s good to be reminded that creation is very much alive and well. As are we, if we’re still able to congregate every now and again.
One other thing to consider – in terms of recommendations, b2’s diaries each Saturday seem to hold their own compared to other diaries. Just because the recommenders may be silent at the moment, doesn’t mean we aren’t reading/viewing and savoring the latest creative work. 🙂
Thanks DD!
The pond and blogging in general isn’t what it used to be.
One of my younger relatives tells me that not only is blogging passe, but so is Twitter. I’ve been told that Snapchat is where it is at – or these days Pokemon Go.
I’m usually around here every day, taking a break from local election work, home repairs (of which there are many) and the garden. Also, I have other community activist stuff going on that seems to eat a lot of time, but I’m always glad to stop by, even if I don’t have all that much to add. No Pokemon for me, except to mock some of my friends with the clips from the South Park Chinpokomon episode.
I’ve been driving the b2 boy all over town to find more pokemon.
I do a bit of driving myself for the same basic reason. Might as well bring the one of mine who is into all of this to work as apparently my work site is a magnet for Pokemon. Now if only I could convince coworkers not to jaywalk while trying to catch Pokemon…
Our Pokemon go people can drive themselves these days…and one has volunteered to take his little brother out hunting so he can join in the fun.
Not sure how that happened so fast…but it might have something to do with my limited online time. 🙂
Glad I saw this tonight.
Hi dada – I miss the Foto Flogs as well as the many old-timers who used to haunt the place. I’m retired from working now, but am surprisingly quite busy with napping (thanks Family Man) and other stuff. Don’t quite know how I found time to work.
I miss those flogs too.
Same here. I know I’ve said this before, so forgive me if I repeat myself. Often we don’t fully appreciate what we have until it is gone. Regrettably, the flogs are gone, as are many other facets of community. But we still have your paintings each week. Those mean something to a fair number of us here – even if we don’t always say something.
Thanks very much for that.
agree. thanks for opening the cafe, boran2. and nice to see everyone.
Glad to see you back here, dada.
As an artist, I always look forward to the progress of the week. It’s always a pleasure to see Boran’s work.
I agree that the tone here has gotten edgier and less tolerant. Every statement seems to trigger emotional responses. Now, when unity is so important, we are at each other’s throats.
I hope we can return to better days. Thanks for keepin’ on, Boran!
In the corners of the political left where I am supposed to be most comfortable, there is way too much sectarianism still. It was bad when I was in college and has only grown worse. Increasingly I have felt a need to disengage, as the bickering does no good and is senseless given the amount in common the various factions share. Really, there are bigger problems to be dealt with than who is more pure than whom. As something of a DP outsider, I’d make the same basic suggestion. Might go over like a lead balloon, but so it goes. Bury the sectarianism at least temporarily (and likely that will mean a matter of decades) and agree to focus on the most pressing challenges – dealing with a rise in right-wing populism and the conditions that led to its rise in the first place, dealing with the challenge of continuing to exist as a species as our planet shows continued signs of human-made climate change, etc. As a species we have our hands full as it is even if we – at least for a time – put aside minor (and sometimes major) differences. Just my two cents.
Here’s an antidote to the hostility. From Jah Wobble’s new album, dropping later this month (assuming I can embed a Youtube video still).
Yay! It worked! Enjoy some peaceful music.
