This article at Crooks and Liars is mind boggling
9 million pills in two years to one pharmacy in West Virginia, in a town with 392 residents!
760 million pain killers shipped to West Virginia in six years!
Those numbers are unbelievable.
It’s incredible what corporations can get away with in this country.
.
Well, there’s some white priviledge they could do without, no? They get that impunity because they are on the receiving end of unspoken, implemented policy.
I think the message from the political elites is….”just die, will you? You are excess to our needs.” And Social Security will save a bunch of govt money.

You could defeat the Taliban the exact same way, but we do it to ourselves.
I remember when these stories all the rage
.
You are kidding, no?
In July 2000, Taliban leader Mullah Mohammed Omar, collaborating with the United Nations to eradicate heroin production in Afghanistan, declared that growing poppies was un-Islamic, resulting in one of the world’s most successful anti-drug campaigns. The Taliban enforced a ban on poppy farming via threats, forced eradication, and public punishment of transgressors. The result was a 99% reduction in the area of opium poppy farming in Taliban-controlled areas, roughly three quarters of the world’s supply of heroin at the time.[16] The ban was effective only briefly due to the deposition of the Taliban in 2002. The constant state of war is what preserves the trade. Paying for weapons and soldiers. Don’t think the Taliban are big users…too valuable.
I’m familiar with this area. The pill problem is huge. This article came from a Charleston Gazzette investigation which showed over 300 mill pills shipped to WV. I encounter people with pill residue on their nose, or falling asleep standing up, regularly.
But its not the manufacturers who are only to blame. Pharmacies and clinics/”doctors” who perscribe strong medication on the flimsiest of reasons. In fact some pharmacy owners are complaining about new rules that you have to take a urine test to see if the previous drug is in your system before they will refill a perscription. That and a general crackdown on pill mill type of operations have cut traffic to small town clinics and drug stores by a large percentage. the guys are whining that its cutting into their revenue stream.
If it was happening in a “inner city” we would call those guys drug pushers.
