I wrote a comment on fladem’s recent post Trump kills TPP: Unions cheer. Below are two excerpts from that comment:
Trump is presently mounting a kind of blitzkreig attack on the PermaGov forces, hoping to catch them unprepared for such radical actions only a few days after he was inaugurated.
—snip—
The PermaGov people have gotten soft and lax in their hitherto fix-ensured little DC feifdom. He is kicking ass and taking names in a way that DC has never seen. Ever. They may not be able to get their shit together in time to effectively oppose him.
I didn’t really understand the full extent of that ass-kicking until soon after posting the comment I went to the Google News page.
Read on.

LORD A’MIGHTY!!!
it’s only Wednesday, and just look at the tizzy that he has already caused amongst the “newspapers of record” (Read: PermaGov mouthpieces) only five days after being inaugurated!!!
Here is a precis of what Barack Obama did in his first hundred days:
First 100 days
The inauguration of Barack Obama as the 44th President took place on January 20, 2009. In his first few days in office, Obama issued executive orders and presidential memoranda directing the U.S. military to develop plans to withdraw troops from Iraq.[184] He ordered the closing of the Guantanamo Bay detention camp,[185] but Congress prevented the closure by refusing to appropriate the required funds[186][187][188] and preventing moving any Guantanamo detainee into the U.S. or to other countries.[189] Obama reduced the secrecy given to presidential records.[190] He also revoked President George W. Bush’s restoration of President Ronald Reagan’s Mexico City Policy prohibiting federal aid to international family planning organizations that perform or provide counseling about abortion.
Kicking no ass, taking no names and doing very damned little. Probably tired…looking forward to his first vacation and all.
Trump ain’t gonna take no vacations.
Bet on it.
Trump: No ‘big’ vacations, no salary as president – USA Today
For Trump work is a vacation. (“Vacation,” vocation”…we know he doesn’t read much. Probably a little dyslexic. Probably a little dyspeptic, too, but that another story entirely. Or is it?)
Anyway, he’s obviously in it to win it.
With a big, early knockout.
Watch.
Frenzied accusations that I don’t know what I’m talking about?
Feel free.
I do.
Bet on it.

P.S. Have you seen how MMA fighter Conor McGregor finishes his fights? He’s another one that most people in his field of endeavor don’t like much…he’s rude, he’s crude, he’s noisy and he’s amazingly successful. The Donald Trump of MMA, actually.
Watch.
This is the way this particular bout is gonna end if the PermaGov doesn’t get its shit together, and fast!!!
Watch.
Peaceful grazing is over, it’s predation time.
In article, the graph used is from the Heritage Foundation … it’s a fictional analysis, written by a mister Confusius.
○ The Unintended Consequences of Welfare Spending | The Heritage Foundation |
The same graph could be used for the increase of wealth for the few over the same period in time …
Pure capitalism is a game of predators, has been proven for over 100 years.
The Obama years were a disaster, weren’t they.

Only if you blame him for the recession that began before he took office.
I “blame him” for not being successful in office, fladem. I think that he really believed in what he was doing, but belief is not success. Success would have been recognizing that the neoliberal, globalist, multinational corporation-friendly agenda that he pursued was a flawed system that would only lead to a more and more fractured domestic society…fractured economically and thus inevitably fractured both in terms of class and also racially. And then actually managing to do something about those problems.
But he was a compromiser. This is not an unexpected characteristic considering his race, his initial economic status and his rapid rise through the academic and political hierarchies, but I think that he compromised to the point where his own aspirations were largely defeated.
He has been looking very…gaunt…since it dawned on him that HRC was indeed going to lose, that there would be a Republican-contrtolled legislature and that all the work he did is about to be flushed down the political toilet.
Gaunt.
Tired
I actually fear for his health.
I have always thought that he was something of a narcissist, and why wouldn’t he be? He was an almost impossibly successful man who came from fairly humble beginnings. I don’t think he ever failed at anything he tried. Not in the long run, right up to the presidency. But he failed as a president and it has shaken him to the core.
So it goes. As they say, the road to hell is paved with good intentions.
Often, so is the road to failure.
It’s a shock when golden boys first lose.
Bet on it.
AG
I don’t agree with you much, but right now the liberal reaction seems to be if we can just find the right witticism Trump will collapse.
Trump’s greatest advantage is the complete inability of his opposition to find any wort of effective counter-attack that shakes Trumps’s support.
You write:
“Right now!!!???”
Fladem, that has been the primaryuweapon that Trump’s opponents have tried to use on him from the very beginning.
His “greatest advantage?” He knows it’s a useless weapon.
As I wrote here on Jul 18th, 2015 (God! It seems so long ago…such an innocent time…) The Trump Problem. You Cannot Laugh A Clown Offstage.. And a sequel six months later, on Jan. 8, 2016, Trump-You Cannot Laugh A Clown Offstage. Pt. II.
Here is an excerpt:
I repeat:
How’s that for some prognostication?
You…and many other good-hearted Dems here…often say that they “don’t agree with [me] much.”
Well…maybe you would do well to reconsider that stance.
I use that “Wake the fuck up” line because I mean it. Y’all have been so hypnotized by the PermaGov media for so long!!! I mean…I have been calling for a media strike since Bush II was in office. Here’s one of hundreds of those call, this one on dKos. (Jun 08, 2005.It and others got me kicked off soon after, because Markos Moulitsas wanted to be part of that problem…a media guru…not part of the solution. He succeeded, too. He succeeded in becoming part of that media problem, a part that helped to lead directly to the successes of neoliberals like Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton, and those successes became the failures that led directly to the rise of Trump. Great work, Markos. Great work!!!
As I used to write back then:
I was so innocent then…that’s like talking to a junkie about how good it would be for him to kick.
Biut…I do keep trying.
Later…
AG
Hmm, to your point about his voters…
Frank Luntz on NPR: “Donald Trump inherits an electorate that is more divided than it has been in decades, an electorate that did feel that this campaign was about the worst of America rather than the best. He inherits a country that cannot talk to each other, that does not respect each other. He inherits a collective mess at a time when more people are paying more attention to politics than they have since 1968. Good luck. He is going to need it.”
Why do I suspect that public’s interest will be maintained with this dude?
Why?
Because he has thoroughly proven himself to be a master manipulator, that’s why. Plus, he’ll do damned near anything to win. Not much conscience at that level. Plus…and I find this admirable, myself…he works his butt off. He reminds me in some ways of Bill Belichick (Patriots football coach for those who don’t know.) and his acolytes like Tom Brady. Cheat? Like a motherfucker if it means winning. Get caught? Stonewall and keep winning until people forget.
Like dat.
Do I like Belichick? Brady? Trump? No, but if they had any power whatsoever over my life I would be sure to at least understand what they are doing on a moral level so that I could fight them effectively.
Calling them names doesn’t work.
On the evidence.
AG
AG, I won’t get into the particulars of what you’ve written, but I definitely agree with you that Trump says what he means, what he intends. I was enormously frustrated with folks posting here who kept writing that Trump was a buffoon and that all of his “crazy” statements were just red meat for his fans. Nope. He really did mean to ban Muslim immigration to the extent possible, for example. He really did mean to reinstate torture. And he’s moving on this stuff.
The man is not just a shallow, ignorant, narcissist. He is an authoritarian freak and a threat to the American republic.
Yes, but what choice did we have? None. Oh, we could have installed the candidate who thinks jobs are for little people and white means white trash.
With all due respect, there was a choice. You (or I, or any number of people) may not have liked it, but there was a choice. (Btw, a candidate whose most famous phrase is a derisively delivered “You’re fired” is a candidate “who thinks jobs are for little people”, no?)
I hate rehashing the awful campaign she ran, but when did Hillary Clinton ever talk about white trash?
You missed it?
How?
The “deplorables” crack.
A code word for “white trash.” Bet on it.
She oughta know.
She married into the family.

For what it’s worth, here’s a fuller account of President Obama’s first 100 days: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/First_100_days_of_Barack_Obama's_presidency
It includes the Recovery Act, the Lily Ledbetter equal pay act, the expansion of SCHIP, and securing Congressional buy-in on what would become the ACA.
Yeah, but “thanks, Obama” is pure snark, so what’s one to write?
“What’s one to write?”
So it goes…
