Trump’s tweeting is so incommensurate with the challenge he faces with these FBI/NSA hearings that I don’t think he’s absorbed the facts at all.

Facts are stupid things.
“Facts” no longer exist.
Not in this context.
It’s all PostFactual now.
All of it.
The one with the most media wins.
Eventually.
The media just keep on prying and prying…
Eventually they get the pearl.
Every once in a while there’s a misstep.
But they keep right on going.

“I don’t think he’s absorbed the facts at all. “
I don’t even think Trump has any conception of such things as facts. He simply doesn’t need them, and by long years of habit, the idea of facts has atrophied in his mind, if he ever had it in the first place. He just says what he thinks will do the trick at the moment and waits to see what happens. It usually does work at least to some degree — and if doesn’t he just tries something else.
What is the purpose of knowing facts anyway? In a sense, every animal, even the most primitive, recognizes facts on an existential level, because every factual object in the environment is either good (e.g. food) or bad (e.g. predator). Make too many mistakes about that and you’re dead.
With humans it’s a lot more complicated, but facts are very important to us because, ultimately, we can live better by knowing what people are actually doing, we can figure out what ought to be done, and also use factual knowledge to invent tools and techniques and to develop the sciences. Falsehoods and lies work because they take the place of facts.
Trump has been so protected throughout his life, first by his father, then by lawyers and creditors, that for him it’s not about facts, it’s just about saying stuff. He doesn’t invent or make anything useful, he is extremely ignorant abut the world, he doesn’t have a concept of what is good for anyone except himself on the most reptilian level. No matter what happens, though, he has always been able to bullshit his way out of it. So for him that’s what it’s all about.
An article in the Times today made some additional points:
1.Trump’s allies have begun to fear that his need for self-expression may exceed his instinct for survival , with disastrous potential not only for himself but for the party whose fate has become so tightly tied to his own.
5.”there’s some evidence that he president’s magic medium [twitter] is losing its effectiveness”, as his tweets get more paranoid.

Time to start asking who is running what in the US government because Trump is looking like late-term Reagan in coherence. Actually Reagan was more coherent and putting up a brave front of charming and affable, unlike Trump.
Trump reminds me of DiCaprio in the Titanic,
‘I’m King of the Morons!!’
40 out of 100 ain’t chopped liver for a ‘reality’ show but for a real country it’s a fucking disaster.
Between Bush II and Trump the ROW is starting to realize that life without American leadership, while once unthinkable, is not likely to be a disaster and a time that is accelerating towards all of us.
Everyone will have to thank the neocons and Republican malfeasance for that. Just another example of when you think you are invulnerable and fully entitled to flex your invulnerability it has exactly the opposite impact of exposing your limitations in a very exact way.
